you forgot the vegetarians that wear leather, leather furniture, purses, car seats and so on!

To them, we should just kill them, take their skin and leave the dead rotting carcass on the grounddevil laugh

Forget cornflakes..blahhhhhhh
give me sausage and eggs, and a side order of bacon:banana:

Vegans are the only vegetarians that won't wear leather or consume animal protein; not even honey.

Lacto/ova vegetarians will wear leather and consume animal base protein like milk (lacto), eggs (ova), dairy, honey, beef bullion (stock), etc. No flesh is the difference.

I am lacto/ova. I am also again the fur trade. I will, however, throw my veggie skewers on the BBQ after a steak was cooked. YUM!
i am lacto-ovo. however, i only eat unfertilized eggs and my cheese must be rennet-free (rennet is a bi-product of the slaughter industry; it's the stomach acids from a cow.

i will not eat anything that contains any animal base or flavoring, nor an animal-based mono- or di-glyceride. i do not eat gelatin. i will not eat food that was prepared with the same utensils, pans, whathaveyou...nor if the food has come into any contact with meat.

i do not wear leather or fur or use lanolin, and i'm considering giving up wool, as well.

all of my cosmetics and skin/hair products are animal product/testing free.

I appreciate your commitment!

I won't eat gelatin either!

Gelatin: rendered/boiled hooves and bones!!! ill

I guess Cosby didn't mention THAT in his Jell-O commercials!

I hate jello but love pudding.. Please tell me that's not pudding too... ill
actually, joy...most puddings are fine. some DO contain gelatin, but most are thickened with corn starch.

and jelly is usually thickened with cellulose gel or the like...plant-based thickeners.

if i take a "reward-day" i'll completely screw myself up. my blood-sugar is off...if i can completely kick the sugar-habit, then all cravings completely cease.

i just make the choice. intake drops dramatically, and the work-outs step up as a result. that's what i mostly need...time to work-out to tone what i have.

losing weight is a breeze for me. not losing muscle at the same time...that's a bit more challenging. especially because of how sick i was earlier this year. nobody tells you just how many months pertussis kicks your ***...i couldn't raise my heart-rate for many months. now that it's a bit better, i'm hitting the gym at least four times per week.

i'm friends with lots of my exes. there was obviously something about them that appealed to me. just because we couldn't work as a relationship, that doesn't mean we can't be best buds.

You are right.

Plants are living things so we kill to eat.

Oh man.....murder tastes soooooooo good.....especially with garlic butter or teriyaki........(doing my wookie roar) aaaarrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhh
not all plants die for us to eat them. i can eat tomatoes all day, or cucumbers...or corn...and the plant doesn't die because of it.

I see the stigma about mental illness is still alive and well.

There should be no reason any human should have to take abuse from another human.

Justification can be made but it still does not stop the cycle.

For those staying for the children, the damage being done to the children because of the exposure to the abusor is major life long damage. So are you really doing them a favor by staying?

Those who live and bring up children in abusive relationships including all forms of abuse then teach the children how relationships should be.

Scary huh?
staying for a step-child is different. there are no legal ties outside of marriage for the step-parent.

Understood but the damage is still done to the child being exposed to the abusor, there is no way around it except to eliminate the abusor from the equation.
absolutely. the only thing you can hope for is to minimize by trying to keep it away from them.

when the choice is them with the abuser, or them back with the mom that's even worse...options run out with a quickness. i was lucky that i ended up in a situation where they gave me guardianship of her.

If your partner is mentally, emotionally or physically abusive to you. Are you "ssooo in love" if you stay or are you just plain mentally unwell if you stay?

Mental abuse is making you feel inadequate at any level ie body size, mental capability, driving skills, cooking skills, mothering/fathering skills, etc....

Emotional abuse is playing with your emotions at any level ie trying to make you jealous, trying make you unsure of yourself in the relationship, loving you one minute and not the next, telling you they would treat you better if you were different at some level, etc...

Physical abuse is hurting you physically in any way.

So what do you think?

If you stay with them, do you need mental help?

i think it really depends on why you're sticking around, how pervasive the abuse is, and if it's worth fixing.

was it always this way? has he/she had some sort of trauma that they are having a hard time working through? my best friend's husband has been a completely different man since he returned from iraq. he was an absolutely amazing man before leaving...but now is depressive and quick-tempered, and sometimes downright mean. she's stuck by his side, no matter how many people tell her she should get the hell out.

i stayed for years longer than i would have because of my step-child. to just up and leave...i wouldn't have been able to take her. i could not leave her to deal with all that on her own. my staying didn't mean that i was nuts, it meant that i was putting the well-being of a child above my own. it's earned me the constant companionship and unbelievable love and admiration of one of the most beautiful, intelligent, and soulful young adults out there. i'd do it again in a heartbeat.

are they staying because they know nothing else? too scared to get out? have begun to believe the crap he pounds into them? then yes...they are mentally ill.

each of us has a different story and a unique approach to life. we can't be lumped into one statement of "if A is true, then so must B be"...

I am not a vegetarian, but only because I do eat chicken, beef, pork. But what is funny to me is when I go out to eat, and I order a vegetable plate. I sometimes just want that, and it never fails. I order, I either get looks or am asked, "Are you a Vegetarian?" shocked scared

It's like vegetarians have cooties or something.slaphead

I just think its because people are not used to seeing vegetarians (knowingly). It is much more the average to eat more of a selection of foods.I think if the average person were vegetarians, omnivores would be getting the same reaction.

Yeah, kind of silly to try to sell people on what YOU want to eat. I say eat what you want for whatever reasons you want. Live well and be happy. Vegetarians can be healthy or unhealthy like any other person. Just chose what works for YOUR body and your palate and let others be happy.

Dont ya just hate those people that want to tell you all the doom and gloom stories about anything you chose to put into your mouth..lol?

I dated this girl who, everytime I ate deer meat she would say. "You are eating Bambi's mom". I finally had enough one night when she said this and responded with, "Well, you ate some of Bessy the cow the other night, and I didn't hear you say anything about that!" She shut up from then on out.laugh
that's actually reeeeeally close to how i became a vegetarian. except it was my mom, and it was HER giving me a hard time about NOT eating the deer.

i've been a vegetarian for over twenty years. i don't try and push my beliefs on others; i don't lecture or try and make people uncomfortable...funny thing is, they certainly do it to me.

it's almost like the average meat-eater takes it as a personal slam that i don't eat meat. would i rather you didn't eat it? yeah...but i'm not bringing it up, and i'm not shoving it in your face, either.

i live what i believe. i do not wear leather, and i do not consume any product from slaughter. ever. i do not waver from one day to the next...i do not have the occasional bite of meat...i'm not wishy-washy...

later, through tons of doctor visits with my little one, i found out that meat proteins cause inflammation and hasten the breakdown of collagen in our bodies. as ours is defective, we couldn't eat meat even if we wanted to.

there's another choice. one could be a fruititarian, which is someone who doesn't kill the plant. they eat the fruit from the plants and that's it. so, tomatoes are okay, but potatoes are not.

a cow can lick my hand, interact with me. broccoli does not.

Pen pal?? How many times would you want to try to decipher what the heck he was talking about with all the misspellings and lack of punctuation??? lol
yeah...i'd go insane. i have a hard enough time carrying on chat-conversations with my teenager who thinks she has to sound like that.

and i love her...and i have to listen to her...

But...being her mother, you could insist that she chat with you using proper language and spelling. You can let her know that she doesn't have to sound like that.
nah, she's her own person. i'm not that controlling...i want her to be whoever she is.

i only insist on the bigger issues. in the scheme of life...i'll just be happy that she wants to text with me!

can i leave out the chicken?

leave out the chicken sure. the recipe doesn't call for chicken. i mentioned adding chicken as an afterthought. the soup is as it says in the title. corn and poblano chiles roasted. you can garnish with cilantro, sour cream, tortilla chips, avocado, mentioned one could add chicken if they like. but no u don't have to put chicken in it. it's ur soup if u decide to make it. i may get around to hammering out the recipe on this tiny little netbook keyboard at some point. palmtop, netbook, whatever they are called... the really tiny laptops, u kno? teeny tiny

well, get to typing.

you've officially made me hungry.

It's a marketing ploy that has turned into a nightmare! Manners go out the window today! Not that society had much to work with!

oh I realize that..it's like a zoo, brings out the really ugly in most. The hours? Why the hours? People can become jerks at 7, 8 or 9.
So a marketing ploy gone ugly...hummmm, had no idea was so simple.
I feel so silly now.. slaphead
The initial idea was ok....get 10 or 20 TV's and sell them at cost. Now the big corporations, i.e. Wal Mart, Target... gouge prices and open way earlier. How you close a place that is open 24 hours is beyond me, but Wally World has their sale merchandise wrapped in thin black plastic. They also got an employee trampled to death because of it in New York last year.
some stores are NOT open 24/7.

the black wrap isn't to hide the merchandise, it's so that we know what is the 5-11 sale merchandise versus the stuff for the all-day event. it lets the stagers know that those pallets have to be quick-dropped in the open.
