Regardless of your religion the Vatican is a fantastic country for diplomatic purposes. Following the Pope has a massive influence for much of politics, and I imagine similar religions will soon follow suite - I'm looking at you Bektashi Order in Albania.

I suspect this Pope was partially elected in order to improve peace centered dialog between America and similar nations.
