When it comes to a first meeting (I recomend at least a few) you should meet in a very public area like restaurants and malls. If he wants to take you somewhere you drive and follow him. Do this till you find out what he's really like and you feel comfortable with him. Goodluck.

He may not even be in the army and the thing about hotel, NEVER, meet somewhere where there's allot of people like a restrant. Go alone you may end up in pieces or in a river.
