" Who .. will remember me when I am gone ? " .. well .. I think Jay might .. he is the 18 month old ( very sturdy ) little son of Shannon .. ( the woman who had previously had quotes of $400 per door to replace them ) lady. Of the three doors ( ribbon grain mahoghany ) .. the bathroom door has a very large caved in spot ( courtesy of her 18 year old daughter ) .

After I had spent about 20 minutes with a rather incredulous Shannon ( explaining my ideas for door remediation and/or replacement for very little money ) .. as opposed to what other " handymen " had told her and during which Jay in diapers .. had come over ( twice ) .. then stood at my feet and gazed up at me .. I went to my truck to get my " love bug " .. which is a tiny toy green lady bug with tiny legs on springs that wiggle when you open the tiny homemade wooden box that contains it .. Shannon and I then went to a bedroom where Jay and the daughter were sitting on a bed reading a book .. I said " Jay , I have something I want to show you " .. at which point .. he stood up and toddled on over .. took the box .. then went back to where he had been and opened it .. but seemed unimpressed .. Shannon then explained that he had seen those before ( I have no idea where I got mine and .. I had never seen one before ) .. so .. in a state of mild chagrin, I put my hand out and said .. " Jay .. would you please shake my hand ? " .. he literally ran across the bed and took my right hand in both of his .. it was a sweet moment .. after which I reached further down .. took him gently by the shoulders .. and then told him .. what I thought he would grow up to be like ( that was between Jay and I ) .. life doesn't get much better than that .. :-) (-:
