Yes, it is possible to have life-altering, mind-bending love without sex. It used to be called the High Romantic. Lots of poems written. Usually telepathic rather than explicitly sexual. It uses some of the same channels as student-teacher love. When matched and mutual, it is pretty powerful.

Very good question, Tintin. Personally, I believe there is a degree of telepathy in every significant relationship. A higher-than-usual degree sparks the soul-mate question. But, for me, it seems different from sex, which seems to come from outside the body, rather than outside the brain or soul. Maybe if you got both in the same package....
