You're all basing your replies on western culture. And the OP doesn't live in a western country. In non-western countries a whole different set of body-language rules apply. Sometimes a woman isn't even supposed to look a (strange) man in the eye. She has to be humble and look down.
If I'm not mistaken, a woman can get corporal punishment in certain countries if she's looked a (strange) man in the eye. Not saying this is the case in the OP's country, but we don't know.

So unless you have knowledge of the OP's culture, we might want to take this into consideration and be somewhat careful with the advice we give.
