It serves me no purpose to argue over what I think and believe verses what you think and believe. And as far as running with dogs of any type goes...Yeah... I'll pass from now on... I remember a thing called "door warriors"......meaning that a person would talk trash, as if they were something to be feared.....but noone ever saw them out from behind the closed door, therefore the person felt safe, because they were sure the door would not open, thus, keeping them from harm. I laugh when I read alot of threads, cause it seems that this is the case with alot of people on these sites.....internet warriors......LOL |

ps I'm not athiest..I'm christian. but christian or atiest or jewish doesnt make you an american.Living in America does and acceptance of all kinds of religion and culture makes you American.

Seems alot of people thinhk I made this post to spout off religious beliefs....WRONG....read all of what I have written....with an open mind.....you may be surprised.....lol Um i think you are the one that needs to reread what you wrote. And then read all of the replies and think about why people are reacting to what you wrote. Hmmmmmmm You need to google american history and read up. Miss HellKitten, I for one do respect and appreciate what you're saying. I'm not about getting in anyone's face over any aspects of this topic. I suppose I just feel that if it bothers someone by simply wishing them well, which is how I've been raised to view the term "Merry Christmas", it makes me feel like I have to not only refrain from greeting them at Christmas, but maybe I should refrain from any greeting at all. After all, maybe they have something against "take it easy" or "have a great day" or "happy birthday". I'm not asking anyone to respect or appreciate my religion or what I believe. I'm just basically trying to spread cheer and maybe get a little back in the process but after seeing how much it bothers some people in this thread, I'm thinking I should just be blank and restrain myself from any direct greetings of any kind. I think, from what I've had the pleasure to see, that you're an awesome individual and I really hope I haven't offended you or anyone else. I think I'll think twice before I post in any of the serious threads from now on. Not worth it... I hope you don't think I was referring to anything that you have said, as I do understand what YOU are saying. I just don't understand the OP and the "american tradition". You have not offended me, nor has anyone else in the topic. Just trying to stir up some stuff. No worries darlin.

I've been having panic attacks and nausea, hyperventilating, and heart beating fast all day, almost ready to pass out, from the PTSD symptoms in me brought about yet again by so called "edgey" guys. Is the edge worth it? Not when it is psychological or emotional, no. It has taken me a long time to learn that lesson and I hope it sticks. all bs from me aside....you need to meet an edgy guy like me.....then your fears would be eased....cause I like to hug....

Yes they do. I see them all the time, drinking the egg nog. Are you a Christian child ? no, sadly, I am not American as I celebrate the ORIGINAL Religion, ya know, the one that Jesus practiced? Judaism?

I dont think anyone is going to bite your head off for saying "Merry Christmas" to them when you are a Christian yourself. I just chalk that up to people being insensitive and thinking everyone should believe as they do which Christians are quite typically known for. However, in a public setting, absolutely "Happy Holidays" as that terminology is all inclusive and does not exclude one group in favor of another. again, you are bringing up a topic that has nothing to do with the price of tea in China.....where, in any of my posts, have I said anything about my beliefs, stemming from being a christian? I have not at all.....and will not.... |

Clearly the American Indians were captured and forced onto reservations by the Federal Government. That was not what I was addressing. I was speaking directly to your remark that "Christmas is the oldest practiced holiday in the US." That is simply incorrect and sounds like something that would be spouted by a person who has not even a basic understanding of our nation's history. The basic understanding of the history is inconsequential.....it was not originally AMERICA, as we know it. History will tell you that in the beginning, ALL LAND was one big mass, called PANGEA....so, that is where the history of this, or any nation comes from....therefore, could not have been an AMERICAN TRADITION before it became AMERICA.. I am not currently concerned with what was BEFORE the topic I am speaking of..... So...all of you who want to bring up Native American, (which culture I deeply respect), sorry about your wasted effort.... |

So are you saying athiest beleif isnt american? cause america is land of the free. thats america is about its about being able to have your own choice. Not at all...And I do respect your right to have your beliefs, whatever they are... All I'm saying is that it will be a sad day, in my opinion, when folks stop wishing strangers a Merry Christmas because they fear giving offense. Maybe it'll be a good day for you, or whoever... But to me it will make the world just that much sadder of a place to live. So its okay to wish someone a merry Christmas even if they are not Christian, yet its horrifying to you to utter the words "Happy Holidays" because that sentiment is too all inclusive and tolerant?? 
I am saying people should not be offended when I see things the way I do.....I am not offended at the Jews....or ANYONE else.....what offends me is the way everyone is acting different just so they don't offend other cultures....if I say Merry Christmas.....and you are jewish....it should not offend you.....you should know that I am showing respect with what this country believes...... And by this country, you mean the Christians, right? you don't have to be christian to say MERRY CHRISTMAS.... I have noticed it is ok for people on this site to strongly press their beliefs and cast a bad light on those they disagree with..... Essentially....you are showing the prejudice you are so poorly attempting to accuse me of.... you are saying it is ok for you to have YOUR beliefs, but since I disagree with what you are saying, I now have people attempting to make me out to be racist....at the least.....you are showing nothing more then the fools you really are...... You can say Merry Christmas all you want. I don't see the big deal if someone replies with Happy Holidays, though. Also, there's no reason to try and insult those who don't agree with you. America is made up of many different cultures and beliefs not just christians. true.....but it is still AMERICA.....as the "holidays" should be.... People of other cultures can practice their own beliefs with out interfering with American Tradition.... A huge part of these people you refer to are american too. So what the hell tradition are you referring to? So to break it to you.....Christmas was here BEFORE any other "american" holidays...as you will call them.... Look....simple, point blank....I respect what each culture believes, and wiil even go so far as to say I am interested in learning about their beliefs, if for no other reason, just so I know in detail the origin, and reason for the practice... But the oldest tradition in this country should be the one that stands, in the matter of CHRISTMAS... Yeah I dont think American Indians were out there on the plains decorating Christmas trees and trampling people on Doorbusters at Wallmart. That would be a Christian claim to the holiday that they stole form the Pagans initially. A war fought has a winner and a loser.... |

I look at it as a time of family and friends.....another excuse to get drunk , but that is a side issue at this point in time...lol You get drunk on the Holy night?
