It is so hard to say goodbye to a beloved pet. If we didn't love them so much, it wouldn't hurt so deeply.
Hobbes is in your heart forever, and wouldn't want you to feel so sad. I lost my beloved dog Chaco 2 1/2 years ago and not a day goes by that I don't miss her, but I remember all the wonderful times we shared and I feel better.
Don't be too surprised if a little kitty shows up at your door. I think our animals tell the new babies where there's an opening, and send just the right ones to fill the void, because they only always wanted us to be happy, and they still do even after they leave us.
Fill that emptiness with a new cat or kitty who needs a good home, and before you know it, your heart will be healed and filled with love once again.
