You seem to be searching for some answers and I would like to help if I may...the drinking and smoking,in and of themselves, will not necessarily take you to hell---but nor will your good works get you into heaven. None of us know the day time or hour of our deaths...but we can be sure of where we will spend eternity. We have all sinned and fall short...so we need a "get out of jail free" card--if you will--since we can not in anyway satisfy the penalty for sin. God sent his son Jesus to pay the penalty so you, I, or anyone else does NOT have to. Sin is like a fine and someone has to pay--you do, if you chose to reject Jesus free gift and spend all of eternity i n hell, or you accept that JESUS paid the penalty for your sin...so basically if you ask him to forgive you for your sins ( check out the 10 commandments if you are not sure which ones you have broken) and ask him to become Lord of your life--you do not have to worry about hell. Man, I hope this helps and I sincerely hope it does...God really changed my life and now I know where I will be when this life ends...please do not mess around with your eternal future. Jesus Christ said, " I am the way, the Truth and the Life and No one gets to the Father but by Me.."
