"The Gladiator"

The combatants battle-tested and ready
There's danger in the air
And each knows that his death approaches
Shows no concern or care

Standing face-to-face
Hatred spewing from their eyes
Feeling no love at all
Only feelings of despise

Nostrils flaring, mouth drawn tight
Breaths short and quick
The gladiators prepared for death
The end result will be sick

Eyes locked and neither blinking
Breaking the gaze would mean he's weak
Muscles flexed with enormous size
Each man strong not meek

The referee yells let the fight begin
Evilness shows its face
As each contestant seeks to destroy
Brutality fills the place

The audience savage and wild
Cheering the blood that spills
Barbaric instincts excites the spectators
Each cheering for a kill

The battle continues for an hour
Each not wanting to lose
Finally a punch is landed
That renders a contestant stunned and confused

With satanic instinct kicking in
The strongest draws his knife
Rips open flesh and cuts to the bone
Ending the weaker's life

The crowd wickedly stands and applauds
The victor throws up his hands
They appreciate the good fight
No concern for the finished man

They play with their son
He is too young to know
That mama and daddy are splitting

You have your hair pulled back with a lacy bow that is reminiscent of a
very special romantic present that is only for my eyes and pleasure

Your mascara telling your eyelashes to slap me in the face and grab my
attention and focus it on your eyes--your stunning baby blues that have
an unseen sparkle in them inviting me to a very special night

Your smile is a little wider
Your voice a little softer
And the contact between your eyes and mine is drawn out with only a
split second seperating long soulful glances

Your fingers are a magicians wand tonight
Performing magical acts that my body has never felt--the chills down my
spine, the fires of passion being stoked by your touch

Your fragrance transcends the body and rushes through my nose and grabs
hold of all my senses--your sensual smell, the bodies natural perfume,
the fruit on the vine is ripened and ready to be consumed tonight

Yes, you killed me tonight--drawing me into your web of romance and

anchoring it to all that makes me

months. It has been soul-cleansing to get some of the things out. My
wife walked out on me and my son the day before Easter and it took a
little while to put things behind me. But I am sooptimistic about the

Myriad-- Thank you for your words. I am most glad that my love for my
son can be seen by those that read my poems. I really do love my son a
lot. I never knew what real love was until he was born. I am only
speaking of an Earthly love as I do believe in God and Jesus and in no
way wish to view any love above the love of the Man that died on the
cross for what He believed and because He loved mankind.

Hands are perspiring
Feeling the tension
His mind is confused
Eagerness and apprehension

The object of his desire
Stands in front of his eyes
No clue of being observed
In for a surprise

Been many dreams of this
His mouth can almost taste
Such an object of beauty
It will be such a waste

Separated from the group
Being in seclusion
Oh my goodness
It’s a foregone conclusion

Silently he walks
Making not a sound
Moving ever closer
Grabs and jumps to the ground

He carries it off
No one does see
