Woman-child,
Pretty, delicate,
Fragile porcelain doll,
Trying to make sense,
Of things ,which make,
no sense at all.
Her pretty, painted, frozen smile,
Barely masks the pain
She tries so hard to hide.
Her big, unblinking eyes,
Brim bright with countless tears,
She's never, ever cried.
She's entombed within the prison
Of her pretty, delicate,
Fragile porcelain shell,
With an eternally frozen smile,
Locking in the sorrows,
She can never share, or ever tell.

See him wasted on the sidewalk in his jacket and his jeans,
Wearin yesterday's misfortunes like a smile,
Once he had a future full of money, love, and dreams,
Which he spent like they were going out of style.

And he keeps right on a changing, for the better or the worse,
Searching for a shrine he's never found,
Never knowing if believing is a blessing or a curse,
Or if the going up was worth the coming down.

He's a poet, he's a picker,
He's a prophet, he's a pusher,
He's a pilgrim, and a preacher, and a problem when he's stoned...

He's a walking contradiction, partly truth and partly fiction,
Taking every wrong direction on his lonely way back home,.......

Running from his devils, Lord, and reaching for the stars,

Fragments of life
Lie strewn
Upon the ground,
Amongst shards
Of memories
Scattered all around.
Like puzzle piece
To long lost
To ever be found,
Or,
Another voice,
Robbed of sound.

Yesterday was a dream,
Whispered words in my sleep,
Promises I made,
But never did keep.
Hours of moments, that passed
Hastily by.
Things I wanted to do,
BUT never did try.
A fragment of time,
Of lives,
Of people I knew.
Wishes I made,
That never came true.
Memories frozen,
In the frame
Of my mind.
Things I mistakenly
Left behind.
Yesterday went,
With time's
Endless flight.
Another day,
Another night.

I've been lost
And I've been found,
Made my destination,
Not knowing where I was bound.

I've known joy,
And I've known sorrow,
Lived through today,
By believing in tomorrow.

I've known faith
And I've known doubt,
And when it comes to life,
I've yet to figure it out.

I've come
And I've gone,
And kept on going
When I couldn't go on.

And I am learning to forgive,
me, for my mistakes.
And, to accept that love,
Seldom gives what it takes.

And, what I've learned,
Throughout it all,
Is, that I'm strong enough,
To survive the fall.
