From what I read of Dane in the earlier pages of this Church I think that it could be fun. Though I'm not Viking and raids from a ship not really my thing.

Thank you for the welcome LAMom.
Though I am not surprised to receive it. I have seen that you also seem to like this place that you have all created. I have also read much of what you write and you are also a good soul. |

Taking back Hawaii!!!

Hmmmm. please define "doing very well" Fanta. the native Hawaiians are treated basically like the "native Americans" (Indians to some). They are herded into small portions of land, and basically left to rot.
Just what / where are these pockets? There are no Reservations in Hawaii, except for a hotel room. No Trail of Tears there either. They seek recognition as a tribe, there are several actually. |

Yeah, just a couple. It wasn't anything that would constitute promoting a competitor or anything, just some humorous stuff. Strange humor A site which denigrates women and another that is simply a way to spout insults. |

I find the lose of the cultures and languages sad and unnecessary. English does not need to be our official language, we speak english here that does not need to be established and if someone would like to teach me other languages I would love it. As for the prejudice of the illegals, yes rob, some do get prejudice with their "fixes" and opinions of the issues involved. The subject itself is not prejudice, it is the stygma that gets put on it that is. That is all from me for the night on this subject as I need my beauty sleep so good night all. the reason many want a national language is to save tax dollars on the printing and other communications of the govt literature Then it is a poor reason. For it gives the right to force English on others. Perhaps legally open the door to other Residential systems. Again part of the decline of the Mohicans was the ailments brought in by settlers not just tribal warfare. |

Forcing people to learn and speak a language........hmmmmmmm. Sounds familiar...............it will come back...........Oh Yes!! I remember the Residential School System. Forget that you are a Native, forget your language, your culture. Become good little natives and look / act white. BLEH!!!!!! i dont care if they speak our language or not. i speak theirs. i learned spanish because i wanted to and i am a better person for it. i have friends both legal and illegal and i most always communicate with them in spanish even if they can speak english. however, i do try to teach them our language. My post was in response to those who would back a bill making English the language of the land by law. How about a bill recognizing Cherokee, Mandan, Mohawk, Huron, Apache, Oglala, etc. They are all recognized Nations. After all treaties are made with Nations and they were here before English. most countries have at least one official language and a lot of them have several languages....mexico for instance, most speak spanish, but do you realize how many dialects there are??? THOUSANDS! a lot of "mexicans" dont even know spanish. i know people that had to learn spanish to even be able to try to learn english. sounds strange, but true. Over two thirds of Mexico's 105 million people live in cities, contrary to the stereotype of peasants and farmers often fostered by the movies. The country's capital, Mexico City, is inhabited by over 15 million people and is one of the largest cities in the world. Over 95% of the population speak Spanish, which is the official national language. Indians make up almost 25% of the population but less than 10% speak an indian language, of which there are more than 50. http://www.mexonline.com/mexico-summary.htm But then I suppose the quote would become 'to the victor the right to decide what is moral'. It has always been so. Just as when one of your tribes conquered another Language, culture and way of life were not erased. Whole nations were not wiped out. Where are the Beothuk today? Wiped out to last...not by tribal warfare either. |

I am a Native American, Member of the First Nations, One of the First Peoples of North America. As to the languages no longer/rarely spoken by the First Peoples again .....Residential Schools, Americanization. There are languages which have been wiped from those who should speak it, ie: Huron, now known only to whites who teach those of that Nation from books put together by Priests. As to the 'to the victor go the spoils'. Try using the methods used then now and see where you get. Genocide, the destruction of a people's food source and bacterial warfare. Breaking treaties with sovereign nations etc. But then I suppose the quote would become 'to the victor the right to decide what is moral'. |

allow me to try again... if it disapears again i will not try anymore. we have laws for a reason.. legal ways into the us... please.. USE THEM!! the legal and national language of our nation is ENGLISH.. please.. SPEAK IT!! the pledge of aligence says "one nation under god" i dont care if you beleve in god or not.. our forefathers wrote that for a reason.. lets not change it... please.. JUST SAY IT!!! again this is jmo.. but i like our country the way it is... where i grew up at least... well izzie under god was added in the fifties and the united states does not have a national language (but it should) yes it is our naional launguage according to the encyclopedia anyway.. according to this, there is a pending bill, but it has not been approved yet, at least from what i can tell. http://usenglish.org/view/438 Forcing people to learn and speak a language........hmmmmmmm. I agree, If they come just like our forefathers and go through the system thats cool. After all, we are a nation of mutts. But as said earlier, I have a problem with overburdening of our school, health and welfare systems at our expense. Just me. Sexxyandsingle.....congratulations....and Welcome. Your forefathers had no system except to take and move out those who were here. Perhaps it is simply history repeating itself. |
