i know what you mean my hearing has decayed since i bought an ipod One to many concerts when I was younger without ear plugs. yeah thatll do it but who wants to be the dork with ear plugs at the show 
I'll take being some dork at show with plugs in my ear over being a deaf dumbass down the road. dork

I can't live without books. I'd rather be deaf. books on tape or brail i would have to learn brail is that how its spelled The vast majority of books aren't out on tape or in Braille. At least not the stuff *I* read....
oh yeah what do you read they just released a bunch of phillip k dck on audio id be good for a while Science books. Trivia. Pop culture. Memoirs and bios. Geek stuff.
