shameless is really about a woman loving a woman.... and i was told that it was personally about Garth's sister. am i wrong? note, its a beautiful song..we all relate to songs and take their words to fit how we think...im not a lesbian..that not how i relate to the song. Uh, no... it's not about Garth's sister, and it's not about a woman loving a woman... although you could interpret any song to be anything, I'm sure someone did to make it a woman-woman song. (That's one of the amazing things about music..). Maybe Billy Joel wrote it about Garth's sister, but I'm pretty sure he wrote it in the late 80's, while still married to Christie Lee Brinkley... |

Ya'll DO know that "Shameless" IS a Billy Joel cover in it's own right, right?
Story goes that Garth got back from a tour, and found a bunch of CD's in his mailbox from the CD Of A Month club, and one of them was "Storm Front" by Billy Joel. Garth listened to it, heard "Shameless", and called Billy's people, and asked them if he could record it... In concert, Garth would often cover one or more Billy Joel songs as tribute.. True stories. what's the first rock and roll record? That's Alright Mama by Elvis Presley 1954 be seeing you Wrong. I could be wrong too but I believe it was "Rocket 88" by Jackie Brenston and the Delta Cats in 1951. I know it wasn't Elvis Presley though. Jackie Brenston was credited with recording "Rocket 88" in Sam Philips studio in 1951, but the "Delta Cats" weren't an actual band. It was Ike Turner's backing band and Jackie Brenston did the vocal track. Brenston played saxophone for Turner in his band. |

And you haven't turned into a popsicle in the cold yet I actually DID post a lot... for like 3 weeks or so... LoL I intend to catch up on some posting now that I'm "back". (= Nope, not a popsicle yet.. It's a shame when the freezer in my house feels relatively balmy compared to the outdoors...... <sigh> |
