I do believe they are over-rated. I absolutely love life and couldn't tell you the last time I went on a date nor had sex. I get a ton of satisfaction out of giving back to kids, having my dream job, and being happy.
I do all those things without a woman by my side. A relationship..a woman... is not going to define me. I want my life legacy to be what I did to help others in need, not what type of romantic fairy tale I lived with a woman.

I'm with the OP. I have reached a point I do not even check out or notice the beautiful women anymore. I have accepted I do not have the looks to attract those types of women. It is very relieving actually. Self-realization and accepting who you are and what you can have in this world is a very liberating breakthrough moment.

Lack of commitment, lower morals, different standards... and divorce becoming accepted are factors that come into play when I think of reasons it is so common.
