At Least 51 People Were Killed, Among Those 20 Were Children. And Officials Fear The Death Toll Is Expected To Rise.
The National Weather Service Issued An Initial Finding That The Tornado Was An EF-4 On The Enhanced Fujita Scale, Making It The Second Most Powerful Type Of Twister.

Newtown, Conn.(AP)- Newtown Parents Didn't Want The Town To Abandon The Elementary School Property Where 20 Students And 6 Teachers Were Killed Last December And Build a New School Elsewhere, Saying That It Would Be Like Letting The Gunman Win.
So On Friday Night They Voted Unanimously For a Plan Calling For The Tearing Down Of Sandy Hook Elementary And Constructing A New Building On The Same Property.
The Plan Approved By The Sandy Hook Building Task Force Now Has To Go Before The Local School Board And Will Have To Be Approved By Residents At A Referendum.
If All Goes Well, Officials Said Construction Could Begin In The Spring Of Next Year And Could Be Opened By Jan. 2016
