I'm sure Squatchy & Co have a good old side splitting laugh at the Squatch hunters expense....because i sure as hell do.
They fumble and crash their way through Squatch areas, making every kind of humanly noise they can...and on top of that they attempt to call out to any Squatch in the area. I wonder what the Squatch interprets that as.... |

Had a lovely "straya day" thanks, quite hot. I'll look for some pics to post. I have many many places on my bucket list - NZ South island, Europe (in particular Germany, France, England, Russia and Italy), Tokyo, New York, Canada and here in Australia I'd love to see Uluru, spend more time in Melbourne and visit Tasmania. Who wants to come travelling :) I lived in Otautahi or Christchurch as it is commonly named for a couple of years wayyyy back in the early 80's (shudder @ the memory of the hairstyle i sported back then)...but they were good times!! So it would pain me to go back to see Christchurch as it is now, because it was once a beautiful city. Did you know Adelaide is a sister city to Christchurch? They both share similar architect with their cathedral and church like structures...thus Christchurch receiving it's name. That is the one place i have yet to venture to here in Australia...Central Australia and Uluru<<----<<<apparently they say that big old rock can be seen from space. |

I don't really see any need to be friends with the ex, apart from the courteous 'hello' and perhaps fill an awkward moment with insignificant small talk, followed by a courteous goodbye, because to remain friends would remind me too much of the reason why we broke up....and someone would wind up crying...and it wouldn't be me.
But of course if there's children involved...then yes...it is a good idea to be civil and remain on 'good terms' with the ex. |

Had a cocky once....but i didn't like it when they clipped his wings, so refused to get them clipped again. We became good friends and he would sit up on my shoulder and screech at anybody that came within 5ft of me, when he wasn't wandering around the property and doing as he pleases. (it was bliss when i wanted time out to myself). Of course the wings were always going to grow back weren't they?? So...i received the fright of my life when the little buggar decided to descend from the tree onto my shoulder via flight. He happened to do that whilst i was taking a little nap outside on a hammock...no prizes for guessing the tangle i got into and the cocky screeching like a mad thing following it. We were both somewhat dishevelled and glaring at each other. Kahu in maori is hawk...rangi is sky. The language is read back to front at times...depending on the context on which it is meant. But there is no meaning to Kahurangi really...it's just something that popped in to my head at the time of signing up to Mingle. Hi Jo ...Perth is probably the best place to be right now, with the floods in Qld and the fires in Vic ;-) Edit to ask Jo if she had a good "Straya Day" :-) I'll give this a shot.. a 'cocky' is, I assume, a cockatoo bird? looking back I bet NOW it's funny huh.. but probably wasn't at the time.. Yes he was a sulphur crested cockatoo...and i wanted to ring the little buggars neck at the time...but i couldn't stay mad at him because he was rather comical in his squawking, flapping manner :-) Sadly...he ended up flying off with his cocky mates one day lol |

The shop assistant took advantage of the situation...but..through careless handling of the stores merchandise, the friend dropped the ring, causing it to break...which makes her liable. That argument right there would so stand up in a civil court..IF...it ever got that far and wasn't laughed out of it first.
Paying for half of it seems a reasonable compromise to me. Bring on Judge Judy! |

hey K do you have any funny animal stories? (other than the scary croc one ) by the way.. is there any meaning behind ""Kahurangi""? Had a cocky once....but i didn't like it when they clipped his wings, so refused to get them clipped again. $14.00 is pittance to argue about principle, but i would be peeved too if somebody came into my shop, broke a $14.00 item, and then proceeded to argue about paying for it because it was 'cheaply made'...i'm guessing there's a principle somewhere in there too ;-) 14 dollar is definitely very small amount of money to worry about. Just happened to overhear this story and wonder about what y'all think. :) Well..maybe your friend got the short end of the stick...maybe not. The principle remains the same for the retailer...as well as the customer. There is no realistic resolve for a $14.00 piece of junk, apart from a moralsitic viewpoint, and this can be argued till we're blue in the face. But for $14.00??...psssht...i'd rather just suck it up then shake it off. |

That being the case...anybody could walk in and 'accidentally drop' a number of items and argue that they were cheaply made and refuse to pay for them on the grounds of it 'being the shopkeepers fault' for selling cheap stuff, and putting it in a place where it can be handled by the public. How unfair is that argument?...not to mention being out of pocket for the retailer.

$14.00...you get what you pay for.
If it was $140 i would return it and demand a refund. But it's about the principle of paying for what you broke. Cheap and nasty as it is. |

Straya mate!
In case you're wondering what the hell i just said...it's Australia Day w'end down unda, which means a long weekend of snags on the barbie, thongs, crackin open a coupla tinnies and Barnsey or Acca Dacca blaring in the background. It's predictably hot around this time of year, so one must slip, slop & slap before going outdoors for beach cricket...oooo and don't forget to spray the aeroguard to avagoodweegend! |

It's a preference innit? Like someone preferring salt 'n' vinegar potato chips to just plain...should we be polite to the 'just plain' chips as we pass them by in favour of the salt 'n' vinegar? Excuse me plain chips...i don't mean to be rude, but i just prefer chips with a bit of flavour. It only becomes a problem when somebody decides to make it one. But we are not discussing salt and vinegar are we? We are talking about someone's appearance. That can, and usually is, a touchy subject far more important than salt and vinegar. You'd have to use another example. Nobody feels bad after they find out someone likes salt and vinegar. Yeah...fair enough. It was a bad example. Point was about preference...and it only becoming a problem when people decide to 'allow' it to bother them. |

It's called a snowball effect...what starts off as 'inconsequential' can develop into something with alot more impact.
Which can be quite insightful. |
