I think they mean more of the others' preferences, like "I only like men 40+", and if you're a man below that age, do you still talk to her, for example. Or maybe, if the other person is taken and you're still single, do you still talk to them?

It would still be nice to know exactly how long it's been. If it's just been 2 months or 5 years. For the latter, then you'd know at least "Hey, they're probably not coming back", but we can't even get that much information.

And, everyone who I think is cool always has "Last seen over a month ago", which could literally mean anytime from one month to 17 years, because this site thinks maxing out at one month is a good idea.

If you want my advice, don't limit yourself locally. That's a great way to never find anyone decent at all.

Go by personality, not by gender.
