gives you an awful looking ceramic something for X-mas. You know she is going to expect to see it when she comes over. What do you do? I rig the awful ceramic thingy to break apart at the slightest touch. Then -when the auntie comes over- I'll ask her to go and get it for some reason. As she touches it, the thing falls apart and I feign "disappointment" at what has happened. Sure, the aunt might respond with a replacement awful tchotchke, but seeing her heart-broken at "her own actions" would be well worth it.
