As I stand here alone in exile,
I watch the people as they pass by me.
They laugh, talk, yell, and cry,
Amongst themselves, in front of me.
They act as if I don’t even exist.

Some people stare at me,
Yet they don’t even notice me.
I’m always there standing, waiting, watching,
For someone to take notice of my beauty.

All my life I’ve endured so much,
From one extreme to the next.
From the burning heat of the summer.
To the freezing snow of the winter.
And when the snow melts,
And the first raindrops come.
It reminds me that another year has passed,
Another year of loneliness.

You see, some people came one day,
They said that they would save me,
Save me from an awful fate.
Instead of saving me,
They have condemned me,
Condemned me to a life of loneliness and despair.

For I cannot cry, scream, or shout,
All I can do is stand here alone.
Waiting, watching,
For someone to take notice of me.
For I am the mighty oak,
Standing ever so vigilant in solitude upon this hill.
