Learned behavior is a hard cycle to break. But, I believe it depends on how much you want that ideal of yourself to be a reality. How strong you really are. How far are you really willing to go to be better than all you've known. It's revealing of your character when you contemplate it. I like your ponder.

I completely agree! I have found that in those situations when someone says, "No offense, but..." I just stick my fingers into my ears and sing LaLaLaLaLaLa.

Where as in the sixties it was a loving way to say goodbye, now I think it is a power grabbing way to say goodbye. Like, "I have the power to end this conversation and to do it with a single word that says nothing in this conversation affects me."
