With you only running 96MB of RAM, any kind of modern mouse and keyboard are going to use some of that. and running WIN98 which I'm hoping it's SE in the least, as for hard to find ram... I suggest you go to this website www.4allmemory.com I found my ram there when I had a Vectra VE HP, for a great price too, just let it scan your computer.. The Keyboard/Mouse problem may also be because of a driver problem, Win 98 was known to load universal drivers for things such as the mouse keyboard speakers and the monitor.. so try to find the specific drivers for them... but do try to get older models of each like these guys said first.
