I was married for 15 years and been divorced for 2 years now. I still use my ex's last name even though hes now engaged to who used to be my best friend many years ago...another chapter in my book. But I have a teenage son and thats one reason I chose to keep it. The other reason being that I used my married name for over 15 years and I have no intentions of changing it. My ex hasnt asked me to change it and even if he did I would keep my name. That name, like you said, is a part of your histroy. You lived by that name for 17+ years so why wshould you have to change it unless you want to? I think you should explain to the man you are getting close to that there is nothing for him to be concerned with as for your name. Hope all works out well for you either way hun.
