My name is not jack and John Wayne took a deferrment because he d'in't want to stop his acting career.And I never said he wasn't patriotic but it's one thing to talk a good game and another to face the heat.I was just suggesting the we might want to pck our heroe's a little more carefully.Gene Autry and Jimmy Stewart actually put their careers on hold and joined the military as did Ted Williams and Stan Musieul to name a few.

This patriotism is reflected throughout his life. He had wanted to go into the military but an old football injury prevented it. He is quoted as saying, "More than anything else, I wanted to go to Annapolis and become an officer in the Navy. It was a terrible disappointment when I didn't make it." The American public may have lost the chance at a great officer but John Wayne never failed us. He worked with the USO (United Service Organization) in supporting US troops from WW2 through to Vietnam. His visits cheered and encouraged many a young service man. Duke wore Capt. Stephen P Hanson's "Prisoner of War" bracelet after the Marine was shot down over Laos, Vietnam. Sadly, Hanson never came home but John Wayne stayed in contact with his wife and young son. John Wayne never shied away from politics. He actively spoke out for the candidates he thought were best including Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan. He honorably held for 3 years the position of president of the Motion Picture Alliance for the Preservation of American Ideals. John Wayne had many honors bestowed on him. During a visit to Vietnam in 1966 he was given a tribal bracelet of the Montagnard people. In 1973 he was honored with the Veterans of Foreign Wars highest award - The National Americanism Gold Medal. Congress awarded Duke the Congressional Gold Medal in 1979. John Wayne helicopter Most recently John Wayne has been honored with an Army RAH-66 Helicopter, to be named "The Duke." Many were there at the naming ceremony in Washington D.C. on May 12, 1998, including his children and grandchildren, congress men, the president of the USO Metropolitan Washington, dignitaries and many military personnel. Michael Wayne said at the ceremonies, "John Wayne loved his country and he loved its traditions." |

for the record doc I am a moderate, I do not call for socialism or a peoples revelution, but your so far right I appear to be so far left. you could say that this country has lost almost all of its social equality over the past 20 years and the middle class value thicountry once thrived on are now in the history books.....This is a dog eat dog capitlisiic system with little or no compastion for the less well off. It is not supversive to care if the widow down the street has health insurance or if she has to eat cat food so she can buy the meds she needs to stay alive hey brother its cool call yourself whatever you need to. I have no problem with you speaking your mind, I dont agree with a lot of it but that is cool too. I'll respect your right to voice opposition as long or longer than the next guy. I might want to shake you a little bit and say WTF are you thinking but thats just a natural reaction when you think someone is just not all there. As far as me being crazy to the right like i think you are to the left..... if I sat on here and told you what planks of the parties on both sides i agree with- 1) you wouldnt believe me and 2) they would take away my all you can eat buffet card at the house of republican thinkers. Im all for gay rights(dont grab my junk) Roe V wade is here to stay (dont agree with partial birth tho and people using it as a means to birth control when we have rubbers and diaphrams and things of that nature) All for equal rights, dont care if you are purple yellow green red or blue, and with that I dont care if you are swinging in the breeze or waiting by the bush. thats the socio politics. on the other hand, government IS to LARGE(thanks to the dems creating new thing after new thing) Taxes ARE TO MUCH(thanks to the need to pay for new thing after new thing) It dont take a village to raise a child. Freedom isnt free, someone had to die for you and me to have ours, the only responsible thing we can do is make sure we dont piss it away(IE, socialism) Stay out of my pocket, quit trying to rewrite the history books, leave my kid out of your stupid agenda, you can only turn so many cheeks blah blah blah, you get the idea. (and in this comment when I say you- im talking about the elitist sociopaths who I believe are destroying the foundation that this great country was built upon) the 'oh we cant have anything that might make someone feel bad about themself' crowd.

i quit smoking yesterday

I quit over 30 yrs ago after smoking 2 pks a day for yrs.Drink all the fluids you can handle.Cut down on anything that reminds you of smoking.[coffee,alchol ect] substitue something like a mint when you want a smoke.Hide guns,knives and other weapons and stay away from people for a while

Well Debbie darlin,When you are supporting a Queen you can't afford to shoot.I taught my children to shoot saftely at a youn age and as far as I know neiher of them has ever shot anyone.I am teaching my grandchildren to shoot saftely so they can enjoy the sport.My childrn went to hunter's safety as will my grandchildren and I would advise it for anyone wheather you hunt or not.I also taught my ex to shoot.Bad mistake.The worst part was she was better than me.You might say I dodged a bullit there.

yep I spend a couple of day each month at the range.A gun is just a tool.Target shooting is just a sport.I also play golf.Hope there is not any anti golfer's out there.
