I strive to be an artist. So I can't answer that. I am an illustrator though.
I've always painted, drawn and sculpted, since I was a child. So I'd probably be a shell id I didn't illustrate.

And when it comes to controlling .. Only you can decide if you will be controlled.. Some encourage that behavior without realizing it.
Games of control just get on my nerves so I don't play them.
Always tell the truth about everything. Not only is it empowering but the people you meet wont get any false ideas about you. At the same time, there is no need to be rude or blunt. Honesty isn't always best delivered with a hammer. :)
Basically set a standard , stick with it. You'll be amazed at how many people prefer a partner who has their own mind.
