Its like in the animal kingdom. The male stuts his stuff trying to get the female aroused for mating. The problem is you can only beleive half of what they say and nothing of what they do haha.

Getting hurt is just part of life. What you have to do is realize that you had some great times before the hurt. And you will have more great times with the next person in your life. I would not trade my hurt feelings because they came with some great times in my life. Look at the good times you had and they will out weigh the bad.
