Read through the posts...intolerance is such an ugly thing, eh? Some folks need to get out more...and accept the fact that maybe - just maybe - they aren't universally right in everything they say.laugh

There is no obligation to tolerance within someone’s personal boundaries. People either respect boundaries or they don’t.

Some may venture to guess a person would be acting like a jerk if they assumed they could act anyway they wished around strangers.

There is no obligation to tolerance when discussion such a supercilious topic anyway.

Do unto others is a wonderful thing to live by. Part of doing that is asking someone how they wish to be addressed. I was told to never assume how I should address someone (last name, first name, Miss, Mrs, Mr, etc). My father taught me that when I learned to speak. I was also brought up that I should never, ever be too familiar without someone I don’t know by calling them a nickname. My father was born in Georgia and raised in Texas; he was the father of manners.

If I reach the point where I ask a person how I should address her I am sure she is not worth knowing . Being myself is the best policy regardless to what others think because I do not want to change anyone and certainly I do not want to change myself for anyone .
To pretend to say what I do not mean is just not me .

What??

When you meet a business associate, you think they are not worth knowing if they prefer you to address them a certain way? Your boss? Your friend's grandmother whom you've never met? That is disrespectful. YOU don't dictate how people wished to be addressed.

You can be yourself but when you first meet someone and shake hands -- don't you ask, "what is your name?" slaphead If they say, “Call me Ms. Jones”, do you say, "Well, that's not me so I'll call you "hon". slaphead

I am talking about Mingle2 which is a dating, social site . I am not talking about other places and other circumstances . I hope we are not comparing apples to oranges .

Me no likey. Pet names from strangers are condescending, IMO.

Really? People you don't know throw terms such as that your way?

*Incredible*

(I'm thinking the OP was referring to using the term on
women he knows rather well - I *assume* that :)

What's with the sarcasm, sir? Considering this is a dating site, I'm assuming the OP meant he called someone "hun" in an email and she didn't respond favorably. Do you know something I don't?

Agreed .
  .

i think the spelling is "hon" not "hun" which is like atilla the hun...
and i have a gf that calls me "hon". it is a term of endearment i hope.
why would i be affended unless someone said "ur a *****, hun", then i would sad orrant or maybe slaphead then again i couldrofl

I saw it in some chat rooms as hun so I have no idea if it is hun or hon the correct one .

Some women find the word " hun " offensive . Are they justified or are they nuts ?. Your opinions as sincere as you can... .

I don't need to get drunk to be happy. A nice bowl of chips and dip works just fine for melaugh laugh

Yesterday I got a cold so I am happy with soups and juices .
I have a soar throat and a little bit of coughing . Also I had fever and I stopped it with my machine gun called Tylenol......laugh .
Tylenol is handy in this season unless it is something more serious than a cold . I got the chills and I hate them .

i didnt go through and read all the posts but would peace ever exist and the answer is no. Religious battles are the main cause of this. And a side note to all of this being that i live in mass in the USA and i can see why all the rest of the world hates us. we have troops in so many other country's. there are still troops stationed in germany. how would we feel if there were just random army bases of other country's just down the street from where we live? and im not saying its just us. almost every political system is caught up and tied down by power and corruption. Abraham Lincoln once said (or someone who wrote about his life either way) "There are no accidents in my philosophy. Every effect must have its cause. The past is the cause of the present, and the present will be the cause of the future. All these are links in the endless chain stretching from the finite to the infinite." Throughout history there has been conflict and war. it will never stop despite numerous efforts. its out of our control and there is nothing we can do or say to stop it. Money is the root of all evil and sadly there is no way to move through life with out it.

These are wise words from a wise man .
However we as humans are not doing enough to stop wars and violence .
The US has more than 300 million people but few take to the streets and say no to wars, no to bullying, no to injustice and yes to peace . It is our duty as humans to talk and encourage peace and to fight against any war and any violence . The Pacifists and the Humanists are doing a superb job spreading the words of wisdom and reason and we should all do the same . drinker waving waving

I am shocked to find pornographic material here on mingle. Makes me want to never visit this place again, it was disgusting, I saw it on a profile from India.

I would be pleased if things like this would be taken care of.

Where is Stavanger, Ragaland....I never heard about this place ?.
In your profile of course.

shocked "LORD Christopher Monckton"surprised

 I'm not going to listen to a blueblood give me advise about sovereignity:smile:

 If this guy wants to talk credibly about democracy and soveriegnity then he needs to drop the "Lord" from his name.

If the British knew any politics at all they wouldn't have chosen the monarchy regime which is against any human common sense and they wouldn't have chosen the moron Tony Blair as their Prime Minister not for once, not for twice but for THREE terms !!!. . Enough folks.....for now .

I cannot, I live in a state that does not have daylight savings time.

I am moving there now because I hate changing clocks .
I get used to a routine and then the government brings me a new routine .
Whose life is it anyway ?.
