Hi, AB,

I've visited the Giza site several times and climbed the Great Pyramid.
The sides are flat, and the covering stones -- the ones I think you are
referring to, are also flat. I'm not sure there is any concave surface
there, or ever was. Of course, a flat surface can reflect a lot of
light and would certainly do so in contrast with the sky and land just
at sunrise and sunset. It is a pretty amazing sight, even without the
cover stones....

AB, for what it's worth, there are no concave capstones on the Giza
pyramids....

Heather -- a moment of opportunity, eh?

Alada -- not mine!

We had taken Lamaze classes. 'Pant, pant, breathe, breathe' and all will
be fine and easy.
"They lied!" she snarled at me....

UCLA STUDY (very interesting and short)

A study conducted by UCLA's Department of Psychiatry has revealed that
the kind of face a woman finds attractive on a man can differ depending
on where she is in her menstrual cycle.
For example: If she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged
and masculine features.

However, if she is menstruating or menopausal, she tends to be more
attracted to a man with duct tape over his mouth and a spear lodged in
his forehead while he is on fire.

No further studies are expected.

Walker, doesn't PeekaBoo remind you of someone from the other place? She
got banned there for truly bad behavior, though as far as I remember it
didn't include theatening anyone, at least in the forums.

Hi, everyone...

Nice posts, Alex. Thanks.

The White House was fuming that Bush's trip was going so badly. Condi
Rice sent out word to our Ambassador to Albania and his advance team
there: they want CROWDS, FRIENDLY CROWDS no matter how it was done.

There are rumors floating around that Bush fell off the wagon at the G-8
meeting and got blind drunk, that he had a massive hangover the next day
and had to miss meetings. Later, I heard him in a press conference audio
with slurred speech.

Much as I criticize Bush for his international polciies and kowtowing to
the neocons on foreign affairs and to Karl Rove on domestic policy, I
hope these rumors are just that.

Any comments from the European journalists who are travelling with him?

ohwell

I am very interested in your take on Cobra II. You've got the background
to assess it.

Excuse me, it isn't CHAOS.

Tom Ricks, FIASCO

Seymour Hersh, CHAIN OF COMMAND

And then there is George Tenet's benighted but revealing book CENTER OF
THE STORM. I haven't finished reading this one, but so far I would say
it is worth the read.

Public sources on the Bush administration and the runup and handling of
Iraq. I am doing these from memory so spelling may be off.

David Isikoff, HUBRIS
Tom Ricks, CHAOS
Michael Gordon and Bernard Trainor, COBRA II
Bob Woodward, STATE OF DENIAL
Rob Schultheis, WAGING PEACE
Bob Baer, SEE NO EVIL
Anonymous (Mark Scheur), IMPERIAL HUBRIS

A lot more are available and worth reading. These are just the ones
that come to mind quickly.

Let me know if you want more.
