Am I ever attracted to black women? I have always been attracted to black women or women of color in general and so much so the last two women I was in a relationship with, one for over two years and the other for a year and a half were African American and Native American/Latina. The reason we did not stay together had absolutely nothing to do with what color our skin was what so ever. In both relationships we realized it was not going to work out because of major personal differences and extenuating circumstances.
I am still open to dating black women or women of color. And as far as what you could you could do to make him feel comfortable to ask you out I think is embodied in the sentence I just wrote before this one. You see us white guys who have spent most of our lives with people who for the most part look like us are constantly faced with the dilemma of using the appropriate wording so as not offend you but more importantly give you the impression by the terminology we use that we have an issue about race or something.
I think the truth of the matter is that the vast majority of white guys will struggle like hell wondering if what they just said or wrote was acceptable enough by black women so as not to look or sound like a real dope if nothing else. So if you really want to make him feel more comfortable, try to give him the benefit of doubt when it comes to answering the question if he is attracted to black women. If he is anything like me he will probably fumble around like hell and constantly be questioning himself whether he should have used the term black women or African American woman, and other terms we struggle so much with in today’s world.
All in all just try and keep in mind for as little as you may know about what it’s like to grow up white, he will probably be just as unknowing about what it’s like to grow up black. I will just give you one instance from my own experience, when I found out how long a good set of braids took to craft onto a black women’s head I started noticing braids as more of a work of art than just a hair doo.
Personally, I can say without any doubt that I find black women some of the most beautiful women I have ever seen, and I don’t think I am alone. It’s just like you say for yourself, there is just something I find more attractive and that is just who I am. Ah Well!!
