I guess I will be the lone dissenter. Sitting down to read just is of zero interest to me. I'm busy. If I've got some free time I would rather do something outside my school work, or my garage/business. Most of the reading I do is technical articles or patents. So in my free time I would much rather go have fun in the race car I just built, or go to a baseball game, go snowboarding, go see my old college roommate, ride my motorcycle, see a play, et al. I actually resent the implication that if I don't read for leisure that I couldn't be as smart as you book worms. I guarantee that's not the case. I would challenge anyone in this thread explain and do the engineering of a wankel rotary engine, a laminar flow air to water intercooler, correctly size a turbo - compressor wheel, turbine wheel, a housing A/R for both sides to turn a 180bhp bhp hyundai engine to a 600 hp engine. Then apply that which you just read to make it work in reality. ah, your own statements betray you -- you obviously read "technical articles or patents"... were you born with this knowledge or did you read to gain this knowledge... people who can read and write are enlightened to facts beyond what they can direcly observe for themselves... I do not think this can be disputed... As far as reading for entertainment - some enjoye it, some do not... $.02 |

OP: I find this interesting. My parents consistently read to me as a child, something I continue to do for myself today (and throughout most of my life..)...
For me? I think smart people read, ignorant ones do not... "they" may have been projecting their insecurity about not reading on to you... F**K em! Read all you want!! :)... $.02 |

scent of a woman

me? I am very sensitive to smells, so too much of any scent is a bad thing... I like light, cleaner perfumes - but just a touch... so you have to get close to smell them...
I do actually prefer the natural smell of some women... some womens pheromones just drive me crazy!!.... $.02 |

eh, just to add...
1. did you initiate the phone calls or did they? 2. did you suggest the meet, or did they? I agree with the ^^, if a man is interested he will call and ask you out... if you had to do the asking, he/they may just be the doormat type with no guts... they agree to the meet and not show up... Also, could be any of several reasons why they no show. $.02 |

hmmm, have you considered that he may be in a transitional period in his life, and he is trying to figure it all out. He sounds like he has no solid idea about what he wants to do...
perhaps, consider supporting him - and providing advice when asked --- while at the same time staying true to yourself and your beliefs/needs? Then, if it's meant to be, it's meant to be... why "drive off the cliff" emotionally - perhaps just let it play itself out...??? |

interesting question...
my "older" friends think it's wierd, my "younger" friends think nothing of it and "that's just a part of dating now"... bleh, it works... I don't mind at all and I am not ashamed at all... the way I look at it -- meeting someone online is very interesting becuase I have met sooooo many people that I would otherwise have never been exposed too... $.02 |

op: when I was actively looking, I would e-mail a few times and then ask to talk on the phone...
but that is me, I am not the pen pal type, I think you get to know more about the person speaking on the phone... but I must say, if I were not interested, or she was not interested - I would never try to "convince" anyone to talk or IM. also, I think IM is completely useless... so I would never IM... and, yes -- it did work for me :)... $.02 |
