Oh, and for what it's worth, the respect for America may not last very long. We're still top dog in the world and international jealousy will not stop for long.

You made a major step in proving the naysayers wrong. You've made a giant leap toward earning the respect of the world again America. Don't screw it up.

how did we make a giant step?
i am sick of everyone saying oh America you got your first Black president i am starting to be offended and i am not even black i think well thats nice and all but what about the peoples lives that he is going to affect and how will he effect them? not skin color wise i remember before every one saying we dont see skin color and ya it dosent matter but it sure dose now by seeing everyones commenets and the news...

I refuse to say it was wonderful that a black man was elected president. That would be CONDESCENDING! We had an election and we elected a PERSON who will serve to the best of his ability. Whether he is good or bad at his task depends not on his race but upon his commitment to America. History will be the judge.

...........what does it take for people to at least respect him for his commitment and his dedication to this country?

Way back when Bill Clinton first took office I thought the sky was falling. Then he lost the majority in Congress and I relaxed a bit. By his second term I was getting fond of old Bubba. Somewhere in the middle of the Dubya second term I kind of missed Bill and finally thought that a return to a Clinton White House with Hillary might not be so bad.
Then along came Barack Obama, Rev. Wright, Ayers, Acorn, and all. I watched as Obama suddenly started rowing his boat to the middle of the road and was ditching right and left the people he had associated with on the road to the top. Wright was thrown under the bus, he barely knew Ayers, and Acorn was just another local activist group. You know something? The more Obama became just another opportunist politician the more I started to trust him. I don't see any change at all. He's a very gifted speaker who will compromise, hide, and redefine whatever it takes to get where he's determined to go. In other words he'll do just fine as president. He's probably going to have a tough time getting this country back on track. I wish him the best.

Listen you are like that teacher in Charlie Brown.............WE HAVE ALL HEARD IT BEFORE GIVE IT A REST...............i wanted an opinion not some govt rhetoric..............

I will bet you anything that no one has ever written anything close to what I just did.
Let me try again.

Even though I did not vote for Bill Clinton I eventually grew fond enough of him to not worry about the country while he was the president. Barack Obama is a very skilled politician who has had to adjust his course to get where he is today. He has shown great skill in defining his position and eloquently sharing his vision with the American people. Along the way he has handled himself so well that I have started to trust him to not be a blind partisan but to behave in a more centrist manner that will likely benefit America. I WISH HIM THE BEST.

I'll rest now but please never again attempt to silence my opinion.

...except for Jeb who seems to be cut from a different cloth.

Like McCain, Jeb was screwed by Dubya and probably will never be president as a result. Jeb probably would be a good one.

I agree.

Actually, it was Lawton Chiles who screwed Jeb out of being President. If Jeb had beaten Chiles for Governor in '94 he'd have had six years in office instead of two when the 2000 election was coming around. The only chance the Republicans had this year after eight years of Dubya was to change the law so Arnold the Governator could have run. Shouldn't marrying a Kennedy give you a free pass to the White House? Camelot!

All of the campaigning was done on the sound lot where they faked the Apollo moon landing.

hahahahaha...

oh

you're serious

Would everyone believe it if Michael Moore said it?

I dunno, I'm just a dumb redneck, but I don't think McCain stands a chance of winning. The good news is, this Congress which has one of the lowest approval ratings ever will have to put up or shut up once Obama is in office to sign all of their pork into law.

Dunno, I'll ask my relatives.

wow

Here is a damning fact.

The majority of people of all races voted for a white man in the last presidential election!!

Pretty scary eh?

There you go thinking again! Does that mean everyone who voted was a hater?

Why vote? I've already been told by the TV who's going to win.

well if you dont vote than dont be like some people who dont and complain about who wins
if you vote then you have the rite to complain

Oh believe me, I'll vote, and I'll be complaining no matter which one of the lying politicians goes to the White House.

Wait a minute! People really attend those rallies? I thought it was the muppet producers just trying to scrounge up side jobs.

I was one of the 100,000 people in the St. Louis rally.

Really? Those crowds aren't computer generated? Who would have thought? Truth is, there is no election this year. All of the campaigning was done on the sound lot where they faked the Apollo moon landing.

because if everyone thought like that they'd take the privilege away

Please let me clarify. What I mean is, why should I have to think for myself when I can let TV and newspapers decide for me and still think myself so wise for being so well informed.

The libs here like to gang up & throw out all the election year words at those who don't support their point of view & they don't like to be challenged with facts either.

for the record I was not thrilled by McCain until he chose Palin as his running mate. She's like one of us. It made me think that maybe there is more to McCain than I thought.

I've had many discussions with people of GOOD faith on many topics & understand why they are voting for OBAMA. I get it...the working class in America have not had a seat at the table for years... with too many lawyers & wealthy people running things all they talk about is the poor. It's sad to say but I think they are all in for a huge let down. I was saying to vote out every incumbant & it might be what DC needs...a clean sweep of both houses. Too much emphysis is put on the presidency while I think congress is really what needs cleaning up.

No one listens... the libs on this board just bypass any real conversation...then I have to read about the things OBAMA does & get called all sorts of names by those who don't want to be confused with the facts. That's sad.... I take swipes to wake these people out of their blindness. ah well... like they say...beam me up scotty..... laugh

I understand completely. I am actually a Second Amendment guy who will vote to protect that right. I have gone around and around with people who don't listen and just spew talking points. Unfortunately since Rush Limbaugh has become so popular many on the right also spew their talking points instead of engaging in honest conversation. It's a waste of brain power to listen to either side.

I would have been just fine with Hillary or even another round of Bill Clinton this year. I have never agreed much with Rockefeller Republicans like the Bush family except for Jeb who seems to be cut from a different cloth. Reagan was a bit naive but bled red white and blue. I wish there were more like him.

And for what it's worth McCain is an addled old man who should have never been nominated. His choice of Sarah Palin was political suicide which I am sure he will be paid handsomely for one day, or at least allowed to live in the magical world of Obama-land. McCain has been set up from the beginning to lose this election. The perfect fall guy.

huh Who is "powerful, and unforgiving"?huh Can you show me specific instances where this person didnt forgive someone?huh And whats his grip on people and why dont he control you?huh Obama isnt even president yet, so how can he do these things in your life?

Uh sorry, I forgot to mention my clairvoyant abilities. When running for the state Senate, rather than run against his opponents Obama chose to have his cult followers challenge the nominating petition signatures of his opponents thereby disqualifying them. According to the Chicago Tribune, Mr. Obama's petition challengers reported to him nightly on their progress as they disqualified his opponents' signatures on various technical grounds.
In the end, Mr. Obama disqualified all four opponents -- including the incumbent state senator, Alice Palmer, and three minor candidates.

Do me a big favor. Rather than just be on the blind bandwagon, really really do some research into Obama. Also, keep in mind that I can't stand John McCain either. I'm just trying to get some people to wake up about their new Messiah.

Do you have a link to this?

Aren't people only disqualified for a reason?

Do a Google search for "Obama disqualified opponents" and you'll find enough links. Yes, they were disqualified for a reason. The reason was Obama didn't want to risk having people actually have to vote for him. It was easier to get elected without opposition by manipulating the system. Uh, that's my opinon by the way before someone starts to blow a fuse here.

What the guy behind the drum kit alleges is true. The Obama campaign back then challenged nominating petition signatures on technicalities. It was cutthroat Chicago politics, and it was legal.
huh If it was legal, then whats the problem?huh

Legal and ethical don't always intersect. If it did we would have no trial lawyers.

Back it up with facts..Otherwise nothing but your opinion!

Since when is quoting the Chicago Tribune MY opinion? Geez, I even asked YOU GUYS to do some research yourself. Don't start playing debate with me here. My opinion is just fine, facts or not. So is yours. This is just a discussion and don't start trying to silence me.
Your right its not your opinion just someone elses..

Now you have to attack my thought process too? Look, of all the people on most forums I'm' one of the few who says we were all duped this election season. I can't stand Obama or McCain. I'm not one of your partisan hacks. I'm just fed up that America has sunk this low.

I read and have been reading these forums for along time!!

You may want to get out more then and try downing a huge glass of clear perspective. This race should not be about hate at all. It should be about demanding more from candidates on both sides until you get someone who can go back ten or twenty years and show a consistent record of beliefs that build a stronger America. Neither John McCain nor Barack Obama show consistency or strong judgment founded on their own inner principles. Both are simply career politicians, one later in life, one earlier, neither worthy of trust.
