there's nothing "overrated" about depression. it's crippling; crying
yourself to sleep every night, wondering what it would be like to
die...you can be depressed and incapable of paying your bills. your
comment was not the least bit constructive or supportive.

Marie is right, Kevin. Clearly we have no idea exactly what this lump
looks like, and I'm certainly not a doctor, but earlier in this thread I
mentioned cognitive therapy. When you are depressed, your thinking
patterns are a contributing factor. often something completely harmless
can get to you, because you have established a pattern of thinking the
worst. go see your doctor, and try not to worry about things until they
are certain. it's easier said than done, we all know from experience.

for him. he has also picked up playing the
piano. he has a kind of avant garde style of improvisation, and a unique
technique. perhaps he'll do some recordings and post them on myspace.

my kitty's name is charlie. i maintain he is the best kitty in the whole
world, and i spoil him terribly. he follows me into the bathroom when i
shower in the morning, i know what his favorite wet food is, if i see a
kitty toy i think he'll like, i buy it for him, i refused to find a cat
sitter for him for spring break because i didn't want to be away for him
for a whole week. cat lovers, brag about your kitties!!

you can't generalize about these things. every child is different, and
every parent has to decide what they feel comfortable allowing their
child to do. you seem like a reasonable person, just go with what you
feel is right.

i'm crashing at my friend's apartment, and some jackass pulls the fire
alarm at 2:30 in the morning. i'm way too tired for this crap.

they also didn't think spelling was terribly important back in the
day...maybe your new friend is a time traveler! (like how i tied that
all back to your original topic?) but it really is too bad that people
can't be more understanding. talking to my counselor i learned a lot
about the history of the treatment of mental illness, and it seems to me
that it just helps to prove my theory that every problem in the world
can be traced back to the uneven distribution of wealth and/or a failure
in communication.

there's not a whole lot you can do, unless you leave work. embrace the
situation and ride it out. it sounds like fun as long as you aren't out
of control!

thanks lex. i toyed with the idea of becoming a therapist once upon a
time, but since seeing a therapist still carries somewhat of a social
stigma, i decided i would rather just be an ear for anyone who needed
it.

spring break! it was pretty boring, but i got an apprenticeship with a
bassmaker for the summer, which is fantastic; i'll learn to repair
basses so i'll save a lot of money (my bass needs some work...).
