I think its because the person, regardless of sex, hasn't accepted his/her self. If you love and accept yourself (imperfections and all) then you can give that to someone else. You can't get something for nothing. Make sense? I hope so. It's a hard lesson to learn, but well worth it. Until I made peace with myself and hurts from the past, I wasn't able to love myself or anyone else completely. That's my opinion.
