Truth right up front: my relationship of 19 years has recently ended, so my previous profile (spouse with A.D.D.; difficult to live with; looking for companion)has changed.
I moved to Kingston from hometown Toronto for this relationship & know few people here, & my future location is up on the air.
I'm a loner who prefers time on my own, but company locally, male or female, would be nice sometimes for activities that are better shared - art galleries, garden tours, bicycling, walking, picnics, drinks on outdoor patios.
Travel is vital & I used to go regularly - self-planned (no tours), exotic, & 3 weeks or longer - but sadly have done little since moving here (spouse preferred not to fly, but didn't say so until I moved in). Two years ago went to Australia & New Zealand for 5 weeks on my own. LOVED it there.
My parents came from England & had me one year later, so am 1st generation immigrant with very pro-British/European outlooks & sensibilities:
- DISLIKE swearing, loudness, narcissism/vanity/lack of humility; cell phones while socializing; calling pursuit of excellence "elitism" (agreed, P.D. James!); digital existence (lots of time on computers/cell/social media); rock stations (hosts too loud and most playlists mundane); "pizza & a movie" dating; movies with overt sex or violence...or with women unrealistically saving the day (even Bond!)
- LIKE table manners, polite conduct, courtesy; good English; handwritten letters/cards; fountain pens; recycling/environmental stewardship; ****ens/Oscar Wilde/British culture/humour; home entertaining with decent china & cutlery; pursuit of quiet & beauty; mostly classical music (some dance & alternative rock, such as Genesis, Mortal Coil, Dead Can Dance); buying used instead of new; fixing instead of throwing away
I have little interest in sports except for tennis, though I am physically active (Tai Chi & swimming at Y in winter; swimming/gardening/bicycling in summer). Enjoy walking, hiking, canoeing, some snowshoeing. Have recently started bicycling, & would like to learn golf & sailing. Not a huge fan of winter except as a break from outdoor work...& ticks.
Unusual for my gender, I like mechanical things, especially cars (less muscle cars, more European sports cars). Nephew & I attend Toronto auto show every year. Would like to visit some of the world's top classic car shows. Am also mechanically & technically inclined; fix many things around the house & enjoy DIY (stained entire exterior, despite lots of time up ladders & on rooves).
Most hobbies are home-based: gardening, writing (started a book... like thousands of other amateurs), digital video & photography, art (painting, drawing). Dabble in music, sing in a part-time Toronto choir, & would like to learn carpentry, Scottish country dancing, ballroom, bagpipes. I love dancing but there are no clubs for my age group.
There, if you've read this far and are still reading, you are forewarned (and, therefore, forearmed!)
Note: I have zero tolerance for infidelity. If that is on your agenda, please do me a favour & stay away.
