I'm a pretty mellow guy... fairly introverted. Generally quiet, but I have a quick, sharp wit, and am not afraid to use it.
I do volunteer work. I've been a Big Brother and have also been a suicide hotline counselor. I've also served on the boards of a few local associations.
I'm a huge animal lover and will say hello to every dog I meet. When it comes to relationships, I believe that life's too short, and people too prone to change, to expect "perfection" to be anything but temporary. So I don't put any stock in the idea of "the One" or people being "made for each other" or any of that Hollywood stuff. (Ironically, my DVD collection is heavy with chick flick romantic comedies.)
But here's what I do put stock in... People are inherently beautiful. Sometimes the world has beaten them pretty hard and the beauty has been hidden by a lot of emotional scarring. But it's still there. Everyone wants to be loved for who they are, and frankly, that's not hard to do, once you get past the hurt and the defenses attached to it.
