Hello please allow me to introduce myself ~ my name is Victor but people call me J. I guess I've grown accustomed to it over the past 3 or so hours that it's been happening. The funny thing, I actually don't feel like a Victor anymore and if someone were to cry out my name at the top of their voice, whilst standing directly in front of me, with our foreheads virtually touching, I'm not sure that I would realise for the first 10 minutes or so that they were actually talking to me! Of course that would only be the case for that first, initial period as I stand in the crowded room, enjoying the company, tapping my foot in time with the intensely loud, almost overwhelmingly layered techno music that plays constantly inside my head, actually blending quite nicely with the pianist who is just nearby providing some lovely light jazz for those at the party, which I can hear as well, but of course that daydreamy series of brief moments would inevitably pass and the moment of realisation would come suddenly "Victor was my name for all that time, I guess my entire life if you look at it that way, this man in front of me bellowing over the sound of the room and trying to be heard, the man whose eyelashes have actually made contact with and brushed past my own is actually talking to me! And it would all come flooding back of course and turn into what is quite a humorous story of how we met on that mild to cool winter's day, at a party for dignitaries and diplomats of some kind that neither of us had been invited to, or meant to attend, just ended up at as you do when to you're on your way to the letterbox, in a full tuxedo complete with top and tails, a gold knobbed walking stick that you have no specific need for, and find yourself passing by the box, forgetting about the mail and somehow walking in the general direction of a function which you arrive at and begin to enjoy and feel so much a part of. The funny thing, looking back, to that situation which unfolded about 15 minutes ago, how did that chap know that my name used to be Victor? I will definitely ask him the next time we cross paths. #notrocketscience
