You are right there. The husband is not to "Lord" it over his wife. They are both to respect each other. If they have some differences, then they need to pray about them, together. Both should be able to give their opinions, the husband should be able to seek his wife's advice, listen to her, acknowledge her and should try to come to an agreement together. After all of this, if the husband still feels strongly that his way is the one to take, then the wife should defer after they have had prayer and discussion about it--not argument. She can then place the matter before the Lord to show the husband if he wrong, or to show the wife if she is wrong. There has to be a lot of love and respect in marriage. I have heard of husbands that demand that their word is law and the wife must capitulate to them all the time. They are out of line scripturally and do not know that if they treat their wives like that, their prayers will be hindered. 1Peter 3:7 "You married men should live considerately with your wives with an intelligent recognition (of the marriage relation) honoring the woman as (physically the weaker) but (realizing that you) are joint heirs of the grace of life,in order that your prayers may not be hindered or cut off(Otherwise you cannot pray effectively.) So that should do it. They are not to trample on us, or mistreat us or belittle us. But treat us as equal in the eyes of our Lord. Also another view omen were never allowed to usurp authority over men in ministry, the church, or the home. God likes order and has set the husband over the wife. Both have responsibilities.
