Not that I always succeed, but as it has been said 'If one aims for the highest, and expects somewhat less, one is bound to at least reach halfway.' I am paraphrasing Joseph Swetnam there. For those who do not know who Joseph Swetnam is, well, Don't worry. He is a long time dead. sometime around 1580 in England. He wrote two manuscripts, one was a very sexist and piggish denegration of women in general. But that is not the one I bother to study. The one that I do study is his manual on self defence. He would know, he had cause to defend himself often. Of course his is not the only manual of self defence that I study. I am branching out now to George Silver, Vincentio Saviolo, and Giacomo di Gri. All of which wrote at differant times in the renaissance period in Europe. I guess you can get the idea that I am a hobby historian. Yup, that's my pion. But more than that. I found Baldisar Castiglione's 'Book of the Courtier' to be a wonderfull tool to self improvement. After all, everything we learn is simply an additional tool for our use in furthering ourselves toward a higher standard.. isn't it? My friends say I am a great human being. and often emensly entertaining human doing. The world is full of things I want to know and see and experiance. While pouring on the years in a slow, and sometimes painfull manner, we learn more about ourselves. We learn what we do not want, just as much as we learn what we do want.
