“All a girl really wants is for one guy to prove to her that they are not all the same.” - Marilyn Monroe
The quintessential, once-in-a-lifetime kind of girl - yep, that's me. Living life on a checker board has never appealed to me; I would much rather escape the confines of monotony, and do it my way. (Thank you, Frank Sinatra. Your cheque is in the post)
American expat, (born and raised in Los Angeles, California) and have lived in the UK for 15 years. Mother to one daughter who has just turned 13. (kill me now!) She is my world, I would walk over fire for her.
Elton John is my hero. He has been a constant presence in my life, since I was four years old. Somewhere within in every dark moment of my life, his music has been my guiding light.
Gym junkie, animal person, not a connoisseur of fine wines, but I enjoy a glass of sparkling water, with a crisp bouquet.
I love a quiet walk on the beach on any given summer evening, listening to the waves break on the shoreline; or watching the sun set over the Cathedral of Notre Dame, from the private balcony of a lovely, Parisienne hotel.
I'm a people watcher. I could sit for hours at watch a menagerie of people come and go, listening to their voices fill the surrounding space.
I study subject matters that pique my interest. I will read something of interest to me, until my eyes become so over tired that the words begin to blend into one another. My thirst for knowledge is a strong point that drives a vast part of my existence, and I never tire of learning. Google is a close friend, we go way back. We've shared countless hours, exploring, reading, learning. I've studied the White Star Line sister ships (Olympic, Britannic, and specifically, Titanic) for 15 years; and another 5 years, on Auschwitz.(I've been to the camp complex, on five occasions) As of late, it has been the torrid history of Alcatraz Prison. Art, psychology, astronomy...whatever happens to be on my mind, at any given moment. The old addage, 'you learn something new, every day' is a mantra for me.
Technology never ceases to amaze me. The innovation behind today's cutting-edge devices, is astounding. I often wonder, "what WILL they think of, next?" (a phone battery that lasts longer than 20 minutes, perhaps?)
I'm a conversationalist. I can easily lose all track of time, should I find myself engaged in conversation with someone that can stimulate my intellect, with that of their own. Good conversation, in and of itself, is an art form. (sadly, it eludes so many people these days...*sigh*)
I love a good film. I'm not one who spends countless hours in the darkness of a cinema theatre; but some of the best films I've ever seen, were viewed as a matter of happenstance. I also love the old classics, black and white films, like 'A Night To Remember', and 'To Kill A Mockingbird'.
I've never been snow skiing, but I've spent many summers water skiing on the Colorado River. I prefer a river bank in summer to a snow-covered mountain in winter, 100% of the time.
I'm strong-minded, but not always decisive. Easy-going, but maintain solid boundaries. Full of life, but love lazy days where I can rest easily, clear my mind of the debris that comes with sharing a big city with millions of people; and simply decompress.
