There was no commotion
No monitors hummed, no alerts broke the silence in the halls
One minute you were there the next you were gone
Relieved of your earthly duties
The torment you wanted so badly to end,
In my heart of hearts I know it was the best thing that could have happened
For no longer do you suffer.
War and death that once was embedded in your brain
Probably seems like little more than a bad dream now
Still each and every day my heart squeezes a little
Sometimes the lump in my throat is so thick I cannot swallow for a beat
My very soul screams for you
Often times the darkened silence of night is my greatest enemy
Your voice is carried on the wind, ricocheting off every wall
