Is it worth not to believe and later find out that it (what you did not believe) was true?

This is probably why about 99.9% of all Christians believe.

Fear.

They've been taught that to not believe is a free ticket to hell. So they believe out of fear.

So sad. frown

we believe because we have been called. and in being called, we
have experienced the presence, and grace of God. why chase a life of hell, when there is such an awesome reward available?
i don't believe out of fear...

i believe out of love. i believe because he called me, and made himself known in my life, and proves his love for me on a daily basis.

...so you can say what you will...but we that know Him, know the real truth about sad.

Lax... are you listening to GOD......or...
are you just listening to RELIGION .....
Big Difference....

Cause religion will make you feel GUILTY for doing something you really want to still do..and will try to make you give up something.

But with God
you won't feel guilty, cause God won't try to make you give up anything,
unless you WANT to,and not because it is expected of you.

That's was exactly my point.

God speaks to men through their hearts.

Religion is based on dogma.

The only thing that really cracks me up is that so many people actually know God via their heart (like I do) yet they still insist on pushing "Christianity" which is a religious dogma.

They can't seem to make up their minds.

Christianity is a dogmatic RELIGION folks!

God is God. No book required. flowerforyou

You can’t have both.

Either you worship the idol (dogma) or you follow God (your heart)

A man cannot have two masters or you’ll Rip Yourself Apart.

You’ve got to make a choice of whether you want to follow a religion, or follow God.

My mistake was in following religion instead of God.

That was a HUGE mistake that basically ruined my life and those around me.

Now I follow God and God alone. I totally denounce any religion that is based on dogma. It can only be the source of anguish, guilt, and denial.

Here’s a song I wrote that speaks to this very issue,…
(It’s the first song on the page and was performed by Reverend Rabbit)

Don’t Rip Yourself Apart

Christianity is Christ. so what have you done with Christ?

sure their are many who have twisted the truth of God and Christ.
but thats why Christianity is about Christ- not however many of the twisted masses.

Even God points to Christ.

people fail sometime. people get twisted. people get drunk on the 'power' of leading a congregation sometime.
that's precisely why Christianity isn't about me or even you.
follow Christ...who stands in the gap that separated us from God.

your issues with the Bible aren't everyone elses issues.
how can you claim a relationship with God, yet reject the Word that he has told us to study and hide in our hearts...you've missed the mark.

but that is your cross to bear.

I relieved Jesus from any responsibility for my sins, by refusing to permit him to die for my sins. I simply refuse to allow that. Period. To accept that he died for my sins would be like nailing him to the cross myself. So I refuse to allow him to die for my sins. I don’t condone it. I disallow it.

I saved Jesus from my sins. If that means I’ll have to go to hell then so be it. I would rather go to hell than condone nailing Jesus to a cross for my sake.

Can you say the same thing? Or would you rather have him nailed to a cross to save your butt?

I don’t condone it. I refuse to give my permission to nail Jesus to the cross for my sake.

I flatly refuse and no one will ever make me change my mind. I’ll go to hell first.

And don’t tell me that it’s already been done because it hasn’t. He can't die for my sins unless I permit it. And I refuse to give my permission.

Even God points to Christ.

God? I think you mean the Old Testament points to Christ. Just more dogma from the same blood and guts mythology. Not God.

God would never be involved in such a blood and guts stories as the Bible suggests. Stop and think about it. The all-wise creator of this universe solves every problem with blood and guts violence?

I don’t thing so.

I give God more credit than that. I don’t believe that the Bible has anything at all to do with God. It’s an egotistical account of the imagination and desires of men. They solve problems with violence, not God.

how can you claim a relationship with God, yet reject the Word that he has told us to study and hide in our hearts...

No God told me to study the Bible.

Where do you get that crazy idea?

Oh wait! I’ll bet you mean that the Book itself claims that you need to study the Book.

Isn’t that a bit circular? You claiming that God told you to study a book because that very book says to do that? The Bible is a very cleaver brainwashing scheme designed by men to entrap its readers and give them great guilt complexes with any thought of rejecting what the book says.

It’s the ultimate brainwashing dogma created by men. And it WORKS all too well. ohwell

sir...

you cannot refuse to accept Jesus' death on the cross for your sins.

it's already been done. if you don't accept then you have no part with God.

God tells us that we are members of his family only if we believe and confess that Christ Jesus died for our sins, and rose again.

when you refuse THAT, you refuse God. plain and simple.

God tells us that the Bible is HIS word. nothing added, nothing taken away.

when you refuse the Word of God you have no place with God.

...you musta met some new millenium god...i hope you will be eternally happy in all of your perfection.

good grief. what a great belief system you have found. you get to be virtually perfect, know everything, and you don't have to do anything, or change anything, or accept,or believe anything.

seems like you should be happier being so right in all of your god-relating bliss.
but all you're interested in doing is pick on people.

To ME, MYSELF and I....it is worth it

I’ll tell you this Lex,...

You can’t go wrong following your heart. If you heart tells you one thing and the Bible tells you something else. It’s the Bible that’s lying. I guarantee it. flowerforyou

That's funny, didn't Jeffrey Dahmer say that? Thou shalt not kill? Nah. Do what you want because you should follow what is in your heart? Put your hatred of anyone who believes differently than you for a moment and really think about what you said. Is that REALLY what you believe?

I am curious as to why you are in these threads if you are so vehemently anti-Christian? Are you trying to show people that they are not as enlightened and thereby trying to save them from themselves? If so, please stop.Your religion is Buddhism? That is great! I will not tell you that you are wrong and won't condemn what you believe. In it lies your code of ethics I would assume and I feel fairly confident in saying that in your enlightenment of what you believe I would hope there are no teachings concerning condemning the beliefs of others? To put your faith in a God that you have no proof exists? I mean you have faith and to the religious faith is enough! But what if it all ends and your souls final resting place is just wandering around? Would you still be happy with the life you did, or do you think there are things you've not done do to fear of God that you would like to do?

I'm not even going to express my thoughts on God but will assume i'm a God Fearing Christian(Roman Catholic at that) and I can say I do everything I want to do... If the church looks down upon it f*ck em... I mean i'm not out killing or raping or anything like that but I take the saying live like you were dyeing litterally....

a God creates for a reason and that reason is set forth in the Bible ..and the Bible tells how to walk the true path to God ...so those that do not go to church or follow the laws that God has set forth in The Old Testament ...are doom to purgatory ..it's that simply ..

Actually he can refuse because it is his choice to. It's a matter of free will that even Christians need to understand that we are given a mind and heart to make those choices.

Agree with the above. God gives us free will to accept him or not. I've seen some who accept, some who might not here. I try to accept him and hope he accepts me and I'd urge all of you to do the same. I'm praying for you and weeping for you, in some cases.

God save us all!

I believe he exists, though I've never seen him. I believe there's some proofs he exists, but not conclusive proof. The essence of his existence to me is the proof borne of my faith in God. I have faith in God, therefore, for me, he exists.

I have never seen my brain either, yet I believe that exists, too, if that's any help to you.

Seemed to make sense to me when I heard it at any rate.

End of rant.

Go back to sleep now.

Damn.... Wow let me clarify my self really quick... I believe in a higher power.... I don't necessarily refer to him/her as God but it's my god. I wrote off religion along time ago because it is alot of rules and regulations that i don't feel are needed in order to live a good life and do what it inharrently good...

Also, were people are conserned(this has no effect on my beliefs) i'm going to quote Brennan Manning(this was said at the begging of the Christian Band Dc Talks song What If I Stumble

"The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians, who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door, and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable."

That right there to me is irritating becaus I'm an all or nothing kind of guy... I don't like this whole on the fence thing.... I mean so yeah...

Interesting. If you made the choice to not accept God, or to accept anything for that matter, have you not willfully and freely made that choice?

Lax...either God is telling us the truth in His Word...OR..God is lying.....

Wow... that is not the only choice here...

What if...

'Gods' word is not in that book?

What if...

You are worshiping a mean and nasty demon who claims to be 'God'?

You are worshiping a book and calling it 'God'...

good luck with that.

No...

Choice is determined by influence...

Think about it.

No choice is free from influence...

but in making that choice you automatically have no choice but to go to hell ...that's why you have no "Free Will" and why "Free Will" means you can change thought into action without any consequences ...

laugh No it doesn't. There are consequences, good or bad, for every choice you make of your own free will. Speed through a red light. No cops? Still a bad choice but you aren't getting a ticket...... this time.drinker
