I'm sorry if I'm a little down and out lately it seems...
just something sorta came along and changed all of my dreams,
it's left me feeling weak inside, and my face a little pale...
Funny how life can change so quick...
I got cancer in the mail...

They sent it Postage Due....
Just for little ol you.

Funny little sort of thing, how it sneaks up on you so...
I only walked from my porch to the mail box... what do you know?
I must admit that when I read it, on my knees I sorta fell...
took me awhile to finally sink in....
I got cancer in the mail...

I wonder what it will be like from here...
what sorta changes there might be...
Cause now I got to change my life...
for something I couldn't even see...
It's already put in triplicate... a red ribbon paper trail...
So many people just got "back Taxes"...
I got cancer, in the mail...

They sent it Postage Due...
directly from us to you.....

and I'm sorry, if lately, of my former self I'm just a shell...
or if I don't take time to keep the conversation from growing stale...
Please forgive me, if you notice, I'm not feeling very well,

And everyday a new part of me will be all sore.
Not a chance to grow gray hair, I can't breath enough damm air.
All my goodbyes to family and friends, I have said
Only darkness left to see, just wait til they pronounce me dead.
Cancer came and took one more life.
Now I have forever left, my loving wife.
