Topic: Name brand or Generic | |
---|---|
I've never concerned myself so much with name brand clothing, usually any obnoxious t-shirt and some levis* will do fine. I have nice sweaters and shirts, but I buy them because I like them, not for a name. Now my Chuck Ts' an the other hand........ I'll buy generic dish detergents, cereals, bleach, asprins, nuts & natural snacks, even store brand bread occassionaly, but on some things, there is very little room for compromise....... Peanut butter..... ....generic just tastes like A$$..... Coffee......Folgers or Green Mtn, please! Pasta sauces.......prefer to make my own Mac & Cheese.....if I gotta eat it, I buy Kraft Dogs and such......Sabretts, Hebrew National,...not Corn King! Vegetables...fresh, or at the vey least, Green Giant ...of course, taste is subjective, and the views expressed here are not necessarily, the views of anyone. Now, do any of the above mentioned companies wanna be a sponsor???? How familiar are you with the taste of a$$? Not very, and that very topic was covered a couple days ago, I think. I avoided it then, too! |

I buy brand name for practically everything because of the quality. Clothes though, I rarely pay full price for -- practically everything I own I bought on sale and I love end of the season clearances!

When I shop for groceries I buy a mixture of both generic and name brands.
If the supermarket that you shop at has some kind of membership club (i.e., Vons, Ralphs, etc.) it's definitely worth the trouble to join and it's FREE. They always have specials on both name brand and generic products where you can save money. |

The only thing name band I buy are personal hygiene products. Otherwise, I'm cheap, anyway to save a buck.

Do ya'll buy generic cars, or go for a name brand car?
How about a hotel? Will you stay at a cheap hotel with a name you don't recognize, or drive further (and spend more) at a "nicer" hotel with a name you know? |

I try to by the good stuff, and if its the generic, thats awesome.. some things generic jsut suck tohugh. like gotta have brand salad drsg and peanut butter.
and a good pair of jeans!! wear em out and its worth the money!! |

I will try the generic & usually its ok, but some items I am picky about.Tip for canned veggies, shake the can, cheaper brands sometimes have more liquid & you can hear this, so it may not be so good a deal.
