I used to love Easter Eg hunting as a kid, and when my own daughter was small. Good memories. Yeah I loved it too. Finding the golden egg was so hard. My son is still too small for egg hunting and dying, but next year it's on. |

I colored eggs today. There will be a scavenger egg hunt tomorrow at my parents' house. I have spent too much on an Easter basket this year but it's worth it.

i can remember back when my grandfather was still alive, the church would hide eggs and they would have the Golden Egg.they would hide about $10 or so inside a plastic egg and whoever found it got the money.
i think there was a couple of times punches were thrown because of that egg |

When mine got to be around 9 years old I started putting coin change in the eggs and whoever found the most money got ten bucks.lol THEY really liked looking then,lol...
I tried to keep the Ester bunny, Santa, and the tooth ferry ALIVE in their minds for as long as I could......lol |

I cried many times over that stupid egg. |

I used real eggs, popped the top, (carefully, no egg on my face thank you) and blew the insides out, put the money in and covered the top with colored paper. No one knew if they had the right egg unless they found the one with paper on the top. Plastic eggs were a hit too, but too easy to spot.

As the kids got older in our family...there'd be about 10 of them or so out looking for eggs.... the adults put lots of coins and some bills in the plastic eggs. Then there were some with candy, too. All the kids ended up with some money, and they all liked counting it up at the end of the hunt.

lol...when i was about six years old, i don't remember exactly, but i do remember my dad saying this..."Mark...you are six damn years old son, there is no easter bunny" lol, of course i cried, and then he picked me up and gave me a hug, put me back down...and i think he made a change...the "prize egg" had a five dollar bill wrapped around it...now..in 1966...that was a big prize for a little kid. I was never blessed with children, I wish i had been, but i guess, some things just aren't meant to be. Be kind to your children, you are the world to them, be kind to your brothers and sisters, you may never see them again. Have a safe and happy Easter people, enjoy your family! |
