hey everyone

help i just lost a promotion to become store manager and i was ok with it at first but then i find out that the guy who got my promotion is a guy i don't get along with. he's younger than me and unqualified. i'm studing to get my masters in bussiness and he's taking web design. I'm a cocky salesman am i taking this out of porportion or does this sound like it wasnt right. man i have no idea why i'm so mad

my god, your 19 and the guy is younger then you????? neither of you are qualified as far as i'm concerned. coming from a business owner and being a general manager several times over i wouldnever put somebody your age int hat position regardless of what your going to school for, you don't have near enough experience to be doing that kind of job and the fact that you say you don't get along with the guy just proves it. management isn't about getting along with people, people liking you or you liking them. it's about being able to lead people to get a job done fast and correctly and having every team member working together no matter rather they like each other or not. your personal feelings should be the last thing that ever came into play. just the fact that you think this and had to ask people show your not ready for that kind of responcability.

I'm a little confused as well

sometimes disappointments occur for a reason. the reason you may not comprehen at that given moment but later down the road, when you can see the bigger picture of your live you may understand it...if you allow yourself to be open minded.

maybe this is not the direction that your life is ment to go. i assure you, in a few months time you will have a better opportunity, one that may become your career.

when you can accept this change for what it is and rid yourself of any and all negative feelings about it. you will have grown into a positive person and thus you will attract good to you.

You are studying for your Master's at 19? When did you get your bachelors? And I would think that if you were a graduate student you would know how to spell business. What gives?

Hmmm.. Well, I guess it's possible that, because you're a "cocky" salesman; that perhaps could have something to do with why the promotion was granted to someone else with more qualified characteristics. No all positions do you have to have various skills and/or qualifications. People learn on different levels/rates. Maybe they found him to be a quick learner and have a different appreciation to his attitude. Think about it, you're upset about something that's not worth getting mad about.. it's not going to place that promotion in your hand when you're upsettedness is over! Just a thought
