so as i was driving home last night, I was listening to Wuthering Heights on audiotape, has anyone ever read this? Or listened to it? I haven't finished it yet, but so far I'm thinking that Heathcliffe and Catherine are just completely selfish ***holes!

Can anyone tell me if it gets better?

Oh, yes and they made a great movie out of it with Olivia deHaviland of Gone With the Wind.

It might. Then again, it might not.

The one novel you simply DON'T want to read is "Tess of the D'Urbervilles"- that's got to be one of the WORST period novels I've ever read. It's SO bad, I don't know how they could use it as a part of the curriculum in High School/College English class. Pure drivel times ten.

It's almost as bad as John Knowles' "A Separate Piece", which is pretty much scraping the bottom-of-the-barrel in terms of bad novels.

I've owned Tess for many years, but haven't read her yet. I will, I'm sure. I'm on a classics kick and determined to trudge through the whole list and that's on it. But thanks for the warning, I'll just get a fun one to temper it.
