Per yellowrose's wise suggestion, let's get back to Obama's speech.

In a way it was eloquent since this man of privilege from two Ivy League Schools is a good orator. However, Obama ignored the central issue. Why did he stay in Wright's church for 17 years listening to the Reverend's routine racist rants week after week ..... year after year? Why didn't he do what any decent father and husband would have done? And that was to take his daughters and wife out of a church where hate and anti-American rhetoric spewing from the pulpit was the norm.

One has to ask ... who is Obama to not only claim the moral high ground, which he attempted to do in his speech, but also the right to the Democratic nomination to run for the Presidency of the USA?

Well, then John McCain can't claim any 'moral high ground' either.

Yet why does John McCain often gets a pass in the mainstream media but Obama does not?

He is supported by John Hagee, who is a bigot and anti-Catholic.

Here's a clip of his anti-Catholic rant:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=uViQ0hVV57Q

Jesus was not the messiah, according to John Hagee:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=m8khCJTDD44&feature=related

Muslims and Christians don't worship the same God, according to John Hagee:

So, ask yourself, if Barack Obama and John McCain aren't responsible for what their preacher supporters say, why is Obama being chastised so much on it while John McCain isn't?

Offtopic, right from the start. What does McCain have to do with Obama's speech?

AND YOU OWE ME AN APOLOGY FOR YOUR REMARKS ABOUT MY 'PAINTIES IN A BIND.' Are you civil enough to do that?

For the past couple days you have been going on a hate spree, attacking Leah and myself. I keept, as a 'friend' trying to ask you what was wrong, that that kind of attitude was totally not like you.

You just kept getting more hateful.

Lindyy,

I'd like to personally apologize for the 'panties' comment.

It was uncalled for. (No the moderator didn't make me do it.)

Believe it or not, I have a lot of respect for you, even if we are often on different sides of the political fence. flowerforyou

I think you have a lot of class, a lot more than some people who only want to engage in constant personal attacks.

Lindyy,

The fact is that both of them have preachers that support them that have made bigoted and divisive remarks, but Obama has been ripped in the press about it a lot more than McCain.

Instead of intelligent political discourse, there is constant reference to Rev. Wright and his comments but hardly ever any mention of John Hagee, who has also made bigoted and divisive comments.

This is neither fair, nor balanced.

Also, a lot of Catholics are conservative, and if they knew about John Hagee's views, they would be offended and might reconsider voting for McCain if they couldn't separate the candidate from the preacher who supports him.

Would this be fair?

McCain isn't anti-Catholic (as far as I can tell), and Obama doesn't believe everything his preacher's said from the pulpit.

Why do I always mess up quoting?

mnhiker:

Well, the main difference here is that Obama is a member of the congregation of the church that Wright was a pastor.

Hagee is someone who supports McCain. That is big difference.

I do NOT agree with a lot of things that people like Hagee, Pat Robertson, etc. say.

Sometimes I shake my head in wonder.

But there IS a difference between your pastor and someone who just supports you as a candidate.

Obama knew what his pastor was like, so from how I view it, he knew he wanted to run for president, so he should have, for the sake of such controversey as there is now, joined another church.

It amazes me how people in the political arena 'don't get it' that the media is out there to dig up any dirt they can find. Therefore, they should start cleaning up their act before making any big decisions, such as running for president are made. The media could not have touched Obama if he had left that church and found one less controversial.

Well the answer is that the propagandists know that a minority racists in power is the most frightening thing to white racists. That is why it is being pushed so hard.noway huh

Why are whites racist just because they don't like Obama?PS McCain is not a member of Hagees church and has said he doesn't share his views unlike Obama who threw his grandmother under the bus to defend a racist jerk and kiss black butt.
