I have had my PS2 for 2 years .... it has been used very little . When I do decide to play a game it works very well and with no issues . Lately I have noticed when I put in a DVD it will play fine for about 30 minutes and then it begins to pause and skip until it eventually brings up an error and stops all together . It doesn't matter what kind of DVD I put in the same thing happens . What could the problem be ? Any ideas or tips to resolve the issue ?

chances are, even though you don't use it often, you still need to clean the lense.
mine does it too.
get a can of compressed air, and hold it about a foot and half away from your ps2 with the disk tray open, spray for about 10 seconds, and try your disk.
if that doesn't work, time to get a new one.
warning: if you spray the air to close to the unit, you will knock the lense out and into the unit, and it won't work period.

No prob, i used to be a tech at gamestop.
i know all those questions.
and blowing in your unit is a bad thing. small amounts of spittle go into the unit and can short it out.
Blowing it bad.

Its simple, PS2 is the most problematic console in a very long time, and its all dvds because the PS2 actually has a reader for games, AND one for dvds, but to complicate it further, games for PS2 are made in 2 formats, one is blue, and one is silver like a dvd, so some games may not play either, so blowing in it doesnt really do anything, its the reader inside, so you can either buy a new one, or take it to a game store that does repairs and have them look at it, I had a PS2, a gamecube, AND XBOX, and the PS2 was the only one that EVER gave me any problems, best of luck.

the lazer needs to be cleaned.don't ask me how to do it on a slim because i've never fixed any slims but i've repaired a few regular PS2's.

Thanks everyone .... it's not a huge deal I have other DVD players and my computer plays DVD's I just really like for things to do what they are supposed to do .

I'm going to clean it and if it still messes up w/the DVD's atleast I can still play a game ever now and again . Thanks again for all the information .
