Freud might also think that the Oedipus complex uses guilt to prevent continuation of incestuously oriented relationships. And failure to get past this trigger point and into the symbolic order is considered to be a classic cause of the lasting neurosis which afflicts this man.

Say that you were married to someone for about 5 years. Your spouse recently confided in you that they robbed a bank for $500,000 dollars before you two met and that they were going to get it soon. Additionally, there is a reward still out for any information about these robbers for $1 million dollars. So do you turn them for the million dollars, or split the half a million they stole? Neither... More than five years ago? It's old news... if there was a reward posted....? It's only the insurance company hoping to recoup... Not my history.. I am out... because my heart is out... money is not a motivator for me.

I think freud is very subjective and you can take him with a grain of salt!!! some of his theories do and are correct in my findings on human nature and observation.
