Topic: applying for jobs without applying | |
---|---|
Hi, I have a weird problem. I do warehouse and retail work. Well I applied to a job using a jobsearch site. Well I havent heard from the company I applied to, but, somehow a life insurance company thought my resume was good. I have an interview this week.
should I try for it and maybe change jobs? Im at least going to see what its about, seeing as I didnt even apply to it. I searched the number through the yellow pages, and drove by already. its a real business, with a title and office in my town. just thought it was weird. any opinions? |

Good luck.... |

alot of times, if your resume is saved on those job sites, employers can search threw them and contact ones their interested in. same thing has happened to me several times on monster.com. my suggestion go for it, no harm in going to the interview, if you get it cool, if not no harm done.

thats what I was thinking thanks.
I always thought of life insurance agents as being, kind of presentable and talented. Im good at my job, but I dont know anything about life insurance, and here theyre searching me out and calling me... Kind of makes me rethink what kind of service they give. Hopefully its not just holding signs and handing out pamphlets. |

Insurance jobs on usually pay based on sales commissions. Something to think about...

make sure its not a commission job And I believe thats what the insurance company that called me was.... a commision account.... You remember the name of the company?? |

Insurance jobs recruit anyone and everyone. Avoid it. You dont want to go door to door selling insurance.

Scam Scam Scam Scam Scam Lots of places get contact info from those job sites and prey on folks looking to better their lives. They promise the moon and the stars but you'll discover it's either all commission work - and very SLIM commission at that or it will be some multi-level marketing scam like Amway. |

kk, most of the ones I get are just spam like 'get paid to shop' or 'get paid to take surveys' I just thought it was weird that this one called me.

they depend on you wanting to succeed and harassing all your friends and family for policies. Be careful.

It may well be a legit business - but like others have warned you Life Insurance companies use the shotgun approach: Get as MANY people as possible signed up as "agents" and hope some of them will generate some policies. Who cares if they don't? It's a commission thing so they don't pay anyone until a policy is issued.
The insurance business is a VERY hard one to break into. NO ONE likes to talk about insurance - other than insurance companies. |

That's so true. I have gotten emails too from insurance companies offering me jobs...research it online and do it only if you can afford to. Better off trying to get into a call center.
